Ancient Forest

Staring at the sun
That makes the sky blue
I look up through the trees
I'm reminded of you
But really just me
As I feel every breath
And every heartbeat
That pumps through my chest
There's a train in the distance
And planes up above
The sounds form a single hum
I can replicate it in my mind
See through the delusion of time
Don't look so long
That eyes go blind
Just long enough to see the signs
It's not all it seems
Just a memory
That soon fades away
Just some shades of gray
The trees see
For miles away
A lifetime of pain
They just want to move
Along the mountain range
So seeds they must spread
Even when they're dead
A new life is born
It could be miles away
They like it that way
As years go by slow
Leaves reach for the sky
Continue to grow
Wisdom of the land
With roots that run deep
A home to the birds
Whistling their song
