LED Vs LCD, Which to buy? (Referring about the back light in the panels)

Coming the next Wednesday, I am going to move towards LCD. I have two CRT 17" Monitors already but the problem is, they're bulky and they produce tons of heat and they do cost money. My freelancing has been going great some time, I mean I not earning big but I am earning nonetheless (don't worry you will get to do the same in coming weeks or days).

After checking Galaxy.com.pk I decided to go for Samsung S20A300B, it's not that great but it's cheap and has DVI and VGA in. Plus, I can buy another one in the coming months. The resolution is a problem is supports 1600x900 at best, this means I couldn't be able to enjoy 1080p movies.

But if I chip in more I can get this one S22A300B It does max out at 1920 x 1080 Display Resolution. And it has DVI-D, D-Sub Video Signals. Notice it has DVI-D which means it's digital.

The price of S20 is 150 Dollars and S22 198 Dollars. The prices justification just isn't there for me. I mean I can't buy two of them anyway.

But I can buy the simple LCD with the old back light for 146 Dollars. I mean just look at it. Compared to the LED LCD this looks outdated.

Normally I am pretty good with computer, I might even say that compared to people on Totse.info, I might be one those Tech fanatics that can give you best advice based on your budget. Unfortunately, in Pakistan I am limited to these displays. It's depressing since I can't import better displays without paying double amount of money for something that's considered cheaper.

I am tempted to try DELL but it's just too mainstream and it's not really a Display Maker. Viewsonic is another old name, I remember using a CRT back when my family bought the first computer. Samsung has been in the display making business and it does have some display centers as well.

Anyway, I can't go over 160 Dollars. It's just out of my budget. I can wait but the more I wait the harder things will be for me. I recently bought a new graphic card HD5670 and it supports Triple Display using, D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI. So, I am sure it can power these displays with ease.

Also, I do video editing to everything you can think off. And I do play to use Dual Displays. So, I will still be using a CRT monitor with the LCD Panel. It's because I am greedy or an idiot (maybe just a little) but having another display gives you some display real estate and I love having MORE SPACE on my desktop.

So, totse based on your real life experiences. What do you think?

My recommendation is the AOC 21.5" LED. I have two of my own (in 23" though, same model). I fucking LOVE them.

AOC are OEM manufacturers for Dell, HP and others.

That said, it comes out to just under $200 so... Just don't write AOC off; they tend to be cheaper but just as high quality.

I am 35 dollars short for that one. Fuck.

    Accepting AID via Moneybookers :D

I need the DVI-D or at least DVI input. Otherwise it wouldn't be a wise future investment.

Oh the 20" is out of stock btw, hence the red line.

LED for certain, you'll love it a whole lot more than LCD. Blacks are blacker too, so looking at family photos will be an incredible experience. Also, LED takes a lot less power to use, so your funky Pakistan power company will love you for it.

I use one CRT 17 and a 17 led. The CRT is for graphics. It gives a more true color display.

I have never purchased a display. I find it absurd that anyone would pay anything near $200.00 for one.

    I have a 22' crt from the 90s. I have 3 17' LCD screens i found in a bin once.

Dfg, trust me, buy the cheaper one. 1600x900 is more than enough.

On a side note, you should check out dell- They make acceptable stuff and in my experience Samsung is piece of shit. I refuse to buy their products, especially their phones.

1600*900 isn't enough when you're doing Animation. Which I have to do to earn money. Plus, I am buying a 23" DELL LED LCD Display. I will keep on CRT with me (IBM G97) but compared to the CRT's that I have, a screen like that would be a welcome change.
