I've recently acquired an old microtek (MODEL: MRS-1200X6P) 36-bit color scanner. What I wish to do with it is set it up to one of my old laptops and make it into a face scanner. The unit it came in is too big, so I want to know what I should take out and apart to bring it down to the smallest state it can be in while still being able to scan and transmit to the laptop.

I would love free facial recognition software, but just being able to view the image and manually unlock my door is good too.

Thanks in advance,
Emily.

LOL. You're going to break your scanner. Don't open the device.

It's impossible to make a face recognition system out of this but you MAY be able to hook it up to some sort of image diff authentication system. These don't really work.
