I needed something simple.

you need zenity (a GNOME package), pulseaudio, ffmpeg and optionally mplayer (for webcam)
They come preinstalled on all distros.

If you're looking for a Windows version, Camtasia does a fine job, it can record and help you produce and edit files. Pretty decent suite to work with.
