1980 computer controlled woodstove

This is a nugget I found when going through links and clicking link upon link to end up some where on the web where a good real life project is hidden. This guy built a stove from a barrel, a door kit, a stepper motor, a computer he programmed that would monitor temperature and operate the stepper motor to give air to or damp the fire.

I have seen a fair few modern ones on youtube, including ones that have fans rather than dampers - tbh, its a lot easier to control a fan than a damper and the effects of a fan are quicker, but for the write up and code for running his soloniod, it is an amazing piece of work - one of the things that made the internet so good.

    Interesting find. But I wonder if the wiring in the top right picture is up to code LOL
