Strong current in my fish tank

edited January 2011 in Spurious Generalities
I recently took apart my pump and cleaned the whole thing out, improving the performance of the otherwise clogged up parts. Now that thing absolutely flies, pumping a shit lot more water than it was before. This seems to have created a pretty strong current in the tank though as it's a pretty small one and I've noticed a couple of the little fish struggling a little to swim against the current.

Can a strong current in a fish tank be stressful for the fish living inside it?

Depends on the type of fish. Generally, they will adjust to it in a few days.

Great. They don't seem to be doing too badly, and I haven't noticed any signs of it harming them at all. I was just a little concerned of the long-term stress related damage which might become apparent, but I guess they're doing just fine. Thanks.
