I was torn between SG and OTH to post this in, but figured to go for OTH as it moves slower than SG and there is less risk of derailment...plus we might get someone who lurks there and knows a fuckton about Space.

So I just got in from having a smoke and staring at the stars. Blocking out the hedonistic Students all around me (it is a Friday, after all) and listening to "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" I looked up, and after a few seconds, the beauty of the night sky came out.
Anyone else here fucking love Space? The hope that one day we as a race could inhabit other planets and maybe, just maybe, make life better for ourselves. We could get started on it now, but alas, we are still stuck with trivial, Earthly matters such as religion, war, poverty and depression - all in a world where there is so much possibility, and a Universe with even more.
Who's with me? Let's discuss the beauty of Space, current Space programs, future plans and hypothetical situations such as terraforming and other cool shit.
And to make it an even better thread, enjoy these links to pictures (too big to post here) and names of some good Space movies I have seen. Feel free to add your own.
So cast away any religious views, any political theories and enjoy what is one of nature's most awe-inspiring feats of time.

I hope to be taking astronomy and physics in University this year, well see how it goes.
The Man from Earth has nothing to do with space, lol.

Might do the same tonight, actually.
I guess the thing that ignited my whole interest in it was Star Wars
I think right now space travel is "open to the public" with space shipOne but its like $300,000 a ticket and its only low orbit flight. Barely get the effects of zero g
