Dianetics

HOLLISTER GUYHOLLISTER GUY Regular
edited August 2011 in Spurious Generalities
So I went into this Scientology place today and ended up getting trapped in there for like an hour and a half talking with the person there about a bunch of shit and what not. Has anybody used the techniques of dianetics? Care to share your thoughts. I'm probably going to read the book soon because it seems interesting enough.

It's a book admitted to be fiction by it's creator who was himself a science fiction writer... The method they employ is suggesting to you you're unhappy or unsatisfied and then promise you something better; after you're inside if you want to leave they will either coerce your obedience or change your behavior through extreme conditioning methods. There are many people now out of their church which tell rather terrible stories of their time there... If they're errant, that is

Yea the host was employing many nlp techniques. and was obviously not trustworthy. Still seemed like an interesting sort of thing he was talking about. It was funny as I was leaving he said to look up scientology online but beware of child pornographers and hate groups spreading lies about scientology.

I responded by saying "you mean 4chan?" and he had no idea what that was (or acted like it at least.

You poor sod, OP. I'd have trolled them with my own religion. Fight nutty religious dogma with your own! Luckily Scientologists aren't that big here in the UK.

    Yet.

Instead of Dianetics you should look into L. Ron Hoover and he Church of appliantology. It would be less expensive in the long run and just as real.

    You should probably stay away.

There are some fucked up stories about what they've done to members and people who want to leave the "church". What it is, is a business. As soon as you become a real Scientologist, you pay money for "auditing" and books and shit like that, and they really don't want to lose that source of income once they get it.
