Doesn't necessarily have to be a whole song but even just a quote from a song.
For me it's hard to choose one song but I'd have to say the lyrics for the song "Hey You" by Pink Floyd would be atop the list of my favorite lyrics.
Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you, with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home.
But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain.
Hey you, out there on the road
always doing what you're told,
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall,
Breaking bottles in the hall,
Can you help me?
Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.
One of my favorite lines. I kinda wanted to get that as a tattoo somewhere. I've really started getting into Floyd as of recently. I got "The Wall" for Christmas last year. I'll have to get more of their CD's soon.

Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (poor boy), I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters
It's too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
<short guitar solo, proceeds into faster part>
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolts and lightning - very very frightening me
Galileo, Galileo,
Galileo, Galileo,
Galileo Figaro - magnifico-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
It's the LAW! No - we will not let you go - let him go
It's the LAW! We will not let you go - let him go
It's the LAW! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has the devil put aside for me
for me
for me
for me
<guitar bridge>
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here
<guitar solo>
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters, nothing really matters, to me
<instrumental ending>
Anyway the wind blows...
<fade out>
90% of the people here prolly have no idea what that is, fibonacci sequence, but yeah they are pretty godly.
Oh and FYI to all who are wondering lateralus is the song with the sequence.
Anybody who made it through Elementary school knows what the Fibonacci sequence is
But my favourite lyrics.... I'm guna have to think about that and then come back and edit this.
lights are out,
phones are dead,
and I'm the only thing thats running in this city.
except for the clouds,
and they're coming down.
if I knew my way around
I wouldn't feel so dizz-ay.
where's telly?
nobody can tell me
I don't speak a lick of that language
and got a slippery memory
if I spelled it all out on my arm
only if
but I didn't
so I think get a grip kid
deal with it
baby's waiting for a ring
won't settle for the substitute excuse that's forming
I got a complicated case of escapism
for her I try to rewire my nature
to tired to wake her up
out of that artificial calm she was on
a drug induced future that slipped out of her palms
seductive rain dancer
she thinks I'm water proof
like superman doesn't need a roof over his head
when I come home to roost
I need truth of holy men
but I'm seeking salvation in a booth
the phones are dead
and the lights are out
and I'm the only thing living in this ghost town
except for the clouds
and then they're coming down
if I knew my way around by now I'd rebound for home
black out on white night in rome
black out on white night in rome
I know that I'm in love
but I know I'm out of touch
and I know that I get dumb when I can sense something's up
and then I bottom out
european tale spins
scrawling messages out on my pale skin
in hopes they get mailed in
before the ink poisoning takes affect
and gets smugged because I bugged before I let paint set
I get jugded by the ones who have shelter and rain checks
while I trugged through the mud
because this foreign terrain's wet
regain conciousness and lose common sense
the ominious dark skies that lie between me and providence are signs
the obivous answer isn't standing on your face with stilletos on
if you pop the question wrong
every song is a post after thought
I won't grab the chalk to outline my body of work
toe tags get caught in my teeth
'cause my foot is in my mouth
and the spurs are in the words
so my tounge can't dismount
even after our rapport had fully run it's course
couldn't figure out the most heroic time to jump from the horse
and place this old hat for the last time on a coat rack
but I'd donate all my earnings from this race to know that
resisting urges to go back and get it later
like the milk wouldn't sour itself in the refridgerator
a wet boy in a dry dry state
on a old country road
where tradition has a blind date
I make it dance on it's own grave tonight
with a change of direction by the pale moonlight
and if it needs theme music
i'll break out the bagpipes
and play a tune that a ghost wrote me in a past life that goes like
black out on white night in rome
Living Legends - Remember Who You Are
To the end of the road and back
Me and my friend came in
Sick and tired when you live in sin
Knock on the backdoor let me in
Im a raging buffalo flack
Rowing right or left the saddle
Ready for battling any instinct
Brought myself back to an inkling
So I can leave that proper imprint, imprint is so fly
So different and so shy everybody gifted but so dry
Im trying to bring that rain to roll that thought to get you buy
We high off life in the best way
Transitioning over the air waves
Right in front of your eyes we best play over two fifteens
Our essays score within you teens that press play
My dooms been cocooned
And now bleeds throughout my resume
Reservoir dog barking in the back lot
Trying get unchained and hop the fence
Bite that chain and command
To get to that higher plain of consciousness
Consequence of stagnation
Sit and rot in damnation
What is a man without some change
Bum in the street wit himself to blame
Empty pockets, empty brain
Im sick with God
My midi man
Forever eyes of simple plan
A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Then you see the light(???)
Then you find the right(???)
On a bright(day)
A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Then you see the light(???)
Then you find the right(???)
On a bright(day)
And as I write to this tune my baby's five months growing in the womb
There's a population boom going on
There's a planetary shift you can hear it in this song
They try to heal it then cut it, heal it then cut it, heal it then cut it don't cut it again
If you feel it then love it, if you feel it then love it, if you feel it love it my friend
Its right in front of us each and every one of us
Freedom or death yes the two are antonymous
Symphonic jus hearin good news
I keep my ears open and stare to the moon
I know theres more than hope when I put out the feelers
We all want the same thing when we're bein all realist
Collective consciousness lets form a village
Then spread good feelings till there aint no more killers
And I apologize if I didn't always rise to occasion
Had to come of age and apply my knowledge to my personal experiences
If I didn't I could've died in all seriousness
We've come far y'all
As a person, as a people, as a world
Its time to raise the bar
Its not hard just remember who you are,
Its not hard just remember
A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Then you see the light(???)
Then you find the right(???)
On a bright(day)
A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Then you see the light(???)
Then you find the right(???)
On a bright(day)
Joan of Arc had a dildo named Jesus
made of wood from the cross of its namesake
she considered the splinters atonement
and when she came it would fill her with light
...
Joan of Arc was a warrior poet
and she baptized the world in flame
and she never stopped to wonder, for even a moment
why Jesus, never came
The festival was over, the boys were all plannin’ for a fall
The cabaret was quiet except for the drillin’ in the wall
The curfew had been lifted and the gamblin’ wheel shut down
Anyone with any sense had already left town
He was standin’ in the doorway lookin’ like the Jack of Hearts
He moved across the mirrored room, “Set it up for everyone,” he said
Then everyone commenced to do what they were doin’ before he turned their heads
Then he walked up to a stranger and he asked him with a grin
“Could you kindly tell me, friend, what time the show begins?”
Then he moved into the corner, face down like the Jack of Hearts
Backstage the girls were playin’ five-card stud by the stairs
Lily had two queens, she was hopin’ for a third to match her pair
Outside the streets were fillin’ up, the window was open wide
A gentle breeze was blowin’, you could feel it from inside
Lily called another bet and drew up the Jack of Hearts
Big Jim was no one’s fool, he owned the town’s only diamond mine
He made his usual entrance lookin’ so dandy and so fine
With his bodyguards and silver cane and every hair in place
He took whatever he wanted to and he laid it all to waste
But his bodyguards and silver cane were no match for the Jack of Hearts
Rosemary combed her hair and took a carriage into town
She slipped in through the side door lookin’ like a queen without a crown
She fluttered her false eyelashes and whispered in his ear
“Sorry, darlin’, that I’m late,” but he didn’t seem to hear
He was starin’ into space over at the Jack of Hearts
“I know I’ve seen that face before,” Big Jim was thinkin’ to himself
“Maybe down in Mexico or a picture up on somebody’s shelf”
But then the crowd began to stamp their feet and the houselights did dim
And in the darkness of the room there was only Jim and him
Starin’ at the butterfly who just drew the Jack of Hearts
Lily was a princess, she was fair-skinned and precious as a child
She did whatever she had to do, she had that certain flash every time she smiled
She’d come away from a broken home, had lots of strange affairs
With men in every walk of life which took her everywhere
But she’d never met anyone quite like the Jack of Hearts
The hangin’ judge came in unnoticed and was being wined and dined
The drillin’ in the wall kept up but no one seemed to pay it any mind
It was known all around that Lily had Jim’s ring
And nothing would ever come between Lily and the king
No, nothin’ ever would except maybe the Jack of Hearts
Rosemary started drinkin’ hard and seein’ her reflection in the knife
She was tired of the attention, tired of playin’ the role of Big Jim’s wife
She had done a lot of bad things, even once tried suicide
Was lookin’ to do just one good deed before she died
She was gazin’ to the future, riding on the Jack of Hearts
Lily washed her face, took her dress off and buried it away
“Has your luck run out?” she laughed at him, “Well, I guess you must
have known it would someday
Be careful not to touch the wall, there’s a brand-new coat of paint
I’m glad to see you’re still alive, you’re lookin’ like a saint”
Down the hallway footsteps were comin’ for the Jack of Hearts
The backstage manager was pacing all around by his chair
“There’s something funny going on,” he said, “I can just feel it in the air”
He went to get the hangin’ judge, but the hangin’ judge was drunk
As the leading actor hurried by in the costume of a monk
There was no actor anywhere better than the Jack of Hearts
Lily’s arms were locked around the man that she dearly loved to touch
She forgot all about the man she couldn’t stand who hounded her so much
“I’ve missed you so,” she said to him, and he felt she was sincere
But just beyond the door he felt jealousy and fear
Just another night in the life of the Jack of Hearts
No one knew the circumstance but they say that it happened pretty quick
The door to the dressing room burst open and a cold revolver clicked
And Big Jim was standin’ there, ya couldn’t say surprised
Rosemary right beside him, steady in her eyes
She was with Big Jim but she was leanin’ to the Jack of Hearts
Two doors down the boys finally made it through the wall
And cleaned out the bank safe, it’s said that they got off with quite a haul
In the darkness by the riverbed they waited on the ground
For one more member who had business back in town
But they couldn’t go no further without the Jack of Hearts
The next day was hangin’ day, the sky was overcast and black
Big Jim lay covered up, killed by a penknife in the back
And Rosemary on the gallows, she didn’t even blink
The hangin’ judge was sober, he hadn’t had a drink
The only person on the scene missin’ was the Jack of Hearts
The cabaret was empty now, a sign said, “Closed for repair”
Lily had already taken all of the dye out of her hair
She was thinkin’ ’bout her father, who she very rarely saw
Thinkin’ ’bout Rosemary and thinkin’ about the law
But most of all she was thinkin’ ’bout the Jack of Hearts
