Issue with VMware Player

Just decided to download VMware and give it try since the only times I've used Linux has been off of a CD. I downloaded Ubuntu, created a new machine for it, played it and everything has worked but when I go into full screen the image just goes to the center with big thick black boarders all around it.

Any help on a solution would be appreciated.

Increase the video resolution or use Full Screen mode. It's mainly due to the resolution set in Ubuntu. Oh, installing VM Guest Tools is highly recommended without it you won't get higher resolutions.

I know little of VMware but virtualbox provides enhancements for guest OS's called "guest additions"

They basically let the virtual machine work better with the guest OS by enabling mouse sharing, better graphics, cleaner networking and so on.

VMware must have something like this.

Just figured that out about 45 minutes ago. It was telling me I needed to install it the whole time on a little bar at the bottom of the screen.. I wasn't paying it any attention. :facepalm:
