We're Doing a Survey!

edited May 2014 in Help and Suggestions
Well, I asked my friend (guy I work with, you know the guy that pays for the server bills) regarding Totseans and how I can improve it and possibly make it a funnel our products.

Well currently we're getting traffic but it's shit cause it's Adult and not directed correctly. So, he told me to create a survey, ask the audience what they would like to read/learn etc and build a website around it. Write stuff and be creative.

So, yeah I need help in creating a survey that I can link around the Internet and actually find what most visitors want from his website and how we as a community can make it more awesome. Currently it's just like SITTING here with no direction.

The time for making coin out of pr0n is @ an end. There's just to much competition out there.

    So heres my suggestions.

    Those political and corporate dogs

Anything that goes against political and corporate ideas and ideals, such as;(eg) environmental and social issues concerning political choices. Privacy, social engineering and monitoring our freedom of speech via the internet. Exposing the white and green wash hiding behind the scenes of legislates that look all pristine and shit on the outside but smell like a pair of pre-teen undies passed around on the 4chan MB. An in depth focus on the relationship between corporate and politics and how it affects not only our online experience but our lives in general. And all this without instigating, riot, mayhem or an unsocial gathering physically or in some cunty countries by internet, because that would be downright fucking illegal.

I know it sounds all boring & shit but it normally tends to stir up emotions and therefore discussion. (It's just a thought! ;))

That actually makes sense, however, I do want or basically need to have some sort of Adult Zone setup here. It's required because I am doing some Adult entertainment stuff and we will get some decent/convertible traffic. It doens't need to be millions of porn thread, just one epic thread with resources that will make anyone jizz.

But that's just one angle I want to try and it can easily tie in with your unique idea.

    So yeah, lets try that.

We do need some rework, I want a decent tag line for the website and yes a new logo to match the idea.

And we can slowly change the content to match it.

I agree with all of these. I think we should focus on what we are personally interested in and not worry about anything else.

I understand the need for traffic, but i don't know anything about it, I'll leave that up to you Dfg.

Also Dfg, I've wonder if a forum is still a good idea. I've become a fan of the "flat forum" like this: http://try.discourse.org/ I wonder how feasible it would be for us.

It might be doable by modifying vbulletin. One flat forum filtered by categories (or tags).

Any new taglines should highlight free-thinking, no BS and independence.

Can be done, would require some creative thinking but yeah we can give it a go :D

Traffic isn't really a big issue for me. We don't generate money out of this, it's just our place for you know doing whatever we like doing.

You can fill threads with dicks and it won't matter :D

Traffic gives government leverage over road revenue control. eg; tolls, car registrations fees, road user charges and the biggy for government is fuel taxes. The more traffic, the more revenue.

I like that concept. It's simplistic yet effective.

I agree, and it needs originality, something that stands alone from the rest.

Hmm flat forum, I talked with Trx and he raised the question of being directionless and handling too many topics at once. I think we should find or compress ourselves to just one topic or two at best. Not many Categories. Just something that is relevant and we can all work on it.

Oh Shit! There goes my next suggestion. Fuck it! Your gonna get it anyways.

When someone has a specific interest they tend to go to site that caters to their forte. (eg). TDR is into Harley's and hassling government for long overdue military payouts. Therefore TDRs interests would possibly be a "motorcycle enthusiasts" forum or perhaps a "Lets shit on government" forum. TRX likes gaming and perhaps he still likes backtrack therefore a "gaming" forum would suit him and maybe a "hackers" forum. And you my paki princess like mudkips and female fashion so perhaps a "mudkips" and "I question my sexuality" forum would be up your alley ... like .... right up there, HARD, Ya know?

My point is when people hold an interest they tend to visit a forum that specifically caters to their interests. Sure flat forums are a little untidy & I don't think they have fuckall of a database. (Correct me on the DB if I'm wrong) But the point is they're simplistic and forum trends seem to be heading in that direction

    Think of it this way!

    Jeffs totse.com
    th?&id=HN.607994552658035074&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0

    Us today!
    th?&id=HN.607994552658035074&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0

So I propose we set up multiple flat forums catering to specific interests only but all under the one name ours and interlinked. Or an easier solution is create a flat forum on a trial bases to see how it works out. If flat forums require fuck all data then I don't see the harm in implementing one.

These are only suggestions by the way, I'm not overly passionate about them at this stage. (Busy with assignments).... Except my forum proposals for you Dfg, you may wanna look in into those. ;)

I will drop this here. This guy wants to add forums and focus on social aspects and get totseans in line with somewhat Totse type thinking and basically revive it.

    I am all ears.

I think a a flat (minimalist) forum is not the way to go. The way totse was designed is the best possible way to create discussions that are easy to find, because categorized. There is not a lot to change. The only thing that is possible to improve is the kind of subforums and names to use. I understand that a flat (minimalist) forum looks more anarchic and trasgressive, but at the end of any session you are getting tired because it is hard to find threads that are really useful for you.

My main idea is to rename subforums from totse with serious names, so they will differentiate form the bullshit subforums where posters are supposed to unleash the madness. From what I have elarned, naming the forums properly is the first step to creating a fast and realiable experience for everybody. I don't know what physical restrictions there are here, and if it is possible to create some more subforums. But if it is possible, the new renamed subforums would be working great.

It's like the apple iphone. It had a perfect UI since the beginning. Then they tried to fix what ain't broken, as a result the last io7 UI is worse than the original UI.

    lets suggest names!

OK. this is the layout that will be very cool to use, it can become a cool trademark. By writing serious names that are universally recognisable, and adding a short desrciption below the name using ancient quotes. During the totse times a lot of posters were used to go on trolling rampages when high, because the names of the forums were not serious. This layout below must prevent people from too much trolling when high.

    Social Matters:

    ____________

    Psychology - Know yourself

    Philosophy - I think therefore I am

    Sociology - Love your neigbours

    Theology - Sweet dreams

    Politology - Left Center Right

    Conspirology - Veni vidi vici

Criminology - Eye for an eye

    Narcology - Your highness

As you see, it is enough to browse the net to find a cool quote to put under the name of the subforum.

    ________________________

The idea is to use scientific names, possibly ending in ology and to add a brief cool description fomr the ancient greek - latin proverbs. We can add "ology" to almost evevrything, like a forum about Music can be transformed in "Musicology" too. And so on...

The slogan can be - "Learn, Know, Think, Pursue".

And of course the good old First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Not if you setup multiple flats with the suggested topics all interconnected. It'll still be the same totseans but a break away from the stone age.

Flat forums are generally filtered by tags (or categories).

    An example is: http://vanillaforums.org/discussions

You can see the default view is "all topics" but topics may be filtered by a selecting a tag. This allows a way to organise under topics and at the same time allows for a less-strict hierarchy.

A lot of this is customisable and themeable.

Howzabout setup a flat forum "test page" to see if you like the layout, what the modification capabilities consist of & give me a chance to check out the CSS capabilities.
    I'm sure Slartibartfast would be happy to help set it up if he can break away from his stalking habits of this fine lookin piece of ass;
