Editorial Blog #1: Does this thing work?

I have no idea what I have just gotten myself into, nor do I know if this feature even works at all. I was looking through the CMS tools and came across a button which mentioned something about “blogs”, so I clicked it. I guess this is where I ended up – writing a blog entry for Totse. This actually gives me an idea for producing content for this place when I am all washed up and out of interesting ideas for guides. Why not write a blog, based on my editorial / moderation experiences each week? It would give people an idea as to what’s actually going on behind the scenes of Totse, whilst giving me something to write about and rolling out some fresh content at the same time. Sounds like a good idea to me, but I’ll see what sort of response I get to this particular blog entry first. I can have a look at the number of views I get, and I can also link it into the forum for some much appreciated feedback.

I don’t really have any good ideas for my subject this week, so I’m just going to go ahead and write about the new analysis tools we have in place on the site. We’re now running 3 tools on the site (I think), which are extremely helpful in checking how we are ranking up and for what reasons we are doing so. Check out Sitemeter for example. You might have noticed that tiny little link / icon at the bottom of the pages on Totse – click it, and it will take you to an extremely good analysis tool which can be used to see the traffic which is running around our site. We can check for inbound/outbound links, what people are searching for to get to us, popular pages, etc etc. It’s awesome, and a really great tool to be using. Of course, you can still use that good old Alexa tool to see some pretty graphs and pictures if that floats your boat.

Anyway, I guess I better wrap this up for now. There’s some threads I need to check and reply to on the forum, and you’re probably bored of reading this blog entry as it didn’t really have too much of a direction when I first started. If you’ve gotten this far, then I salute you! There’s more to come if you want it.

Adios!
