(Wide-Band FM) tactical radios which currently operate from
30 to 75.95 MHz with .05 MHz spacing. Newer tactical radio
systems which include the AN/VRC, AN/GRC, and AN/PRC families
operate up to 100 MHz with .025 MHz spacing, and will have
frequency hopping capability and built in encryption security.
They may have a PL of 150 Hz which is called new squelch.
* Frequencies marked with a * are used for convoys also.

The following Frequencies use the VHF Aeronautical Band. It is in this
band that all aircraft communications take place. The entire band uses

NOTE: On 450-470 and 470-512 Mhz UHF Bands with .025 Spacing.
Frequencies are normally issued in pairs, 5 Mhz apart, with
the lower frequency being the repeater output. Therefore only
the repeater output is listed. Mobiles are permitted to operate
on either of the two. Higher for repeater operation, or on the
repeater output frequency for close, direct, or "Talk-Around"
operation. Simplex frequencies are included seperately. The 450
& 455 Mhz pair are used by TV & Radio stations, they are permitted
to use either as the repeater output. Above 470 to 512 Mhz the
plan is the same except the seperation is 3 Mhz, (Each group is
assigned to an unused 6 Mhz wide TV channel), and they progress
up from .0125.

The following range of frequencies 851.0125 - 860.9875 MHz is
the new 800 MHz band. This part of the band is allocated for
Conventional and trunked systems with .025 MHz spacing. A part
of this band is also allocated for "Slow Growth", and many
public services are now switching over to this band. We list here
only the known base frequencies, the mobile frequencies will be
45 MHz lower than the base frequencies. A base on 857.2125 will
have their mobile units on 812.2125. In a trunked system with 5
or more channels, the radio automatically finds an unused repeater
and causes all other radios in that service to switch to that
repeater. Keep in mind that all local services in a community
utilize the same system, such as Police, Fire, Water & Sewer,
Local Govt., and Street Dept. One channel in a trunked system
may be used as a data channel, in the case of the City of Dayton
one channel will be used for data for a period of 24 hours, and
a new channel is selected at 12:00 am each day. When monitoring
a trunked system keep your delay function off, this will allow
you to follow a conversation more easily.

REFERENCE:

The following frequency range 144 - 148 MHz is the 2 meter Amateur
Radio Band. There are several different modes of transmissions for
this band which follows the band plan that has been established by
the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). Most scanners however will
receive only FM in this part of the VHF band. Since this is the most
popular of the Ham bands, we list here only the output of known
repeaters in the area. In the 2 Meter band, repeater inputs are offset
at 600 kHz. Inputs for repeaters up to 146.970 will generally be
lower, while inputs to repeaters at 147.00 and up will generally be
higher. For example: the input to the 146.970 repeater will be
600 kHz lower thus the actual input frequency will be 146.370, while
the 147.165 repeater will have an input of 600 kHz higher thus the
actual input frequency will be 147.765. There are some exceptions to
this rule, so the input will be indicated here with a either a + or -.

The following range of frequencies 220 -225 MHz are considered as the
1.25 Meters Amateur Radio Band. There are several different modes of
transmissions used in this band which follows the band plan that has
been established by the ARRL. Since we list here only the outputs of
known area repeaters, scanners covering this band should be set for
FM reception. The frequency seperation for input offsets for this band
is set at 1.6 MHz lower than the output frequency. Thus the input for
the 224.24 repeater will be at 222.64. This band is currently under
consideration for re-allocation by the FCC.

The following range of frequencies 420 - 450 MHz is considered
as the 70 centimeter Amateur Radio Band. There are several
different modes of transmissions used for this band which follows
the band plan established by the ARRL. We list here only the output
of known area repeaters, all repeaters in this band use FM mode.
The input frequencies for this band have an offset of 5 MHz,
A local option is given, as to whether the offset will be higher
or lower than the output frequency. We indicate the offset with
either a + or -. This band is rapidly becoming one of the more
popular Amateur bands, and the band plan is currently under review
by the ARRL VHF - UHF Advisory Committee.

All frequencies in this listing have been monitored by someone
at one time or another. Military activity within 50 miles of
Cincinnati is very sparse, so keep this in mind when scanning
military frequencies. However, all military frequencies listed
here are in use by military agencies. This list is by no means
complete, and we need your help to add new data or make corrections.
