American Medical Association Supports Removal of Biological Sex as Legal Designation on Birth Certificates

The American Medical Association (AMA) is preparing to publicly call for the removal of biological sex as a legal designation on birth certificates.

According to a draft resolution from the AMA House of Delegates, the organization has decided to “advocate for the removal of sex as a legal designation on the public portion of the birth certificate and that it be visible for medical and statstical use only.”

The AMA gives several reasons for their stance, the first of which is their core belief that “the physician’s nonjudgmental recognition of patients’ gender identities enhances the ability to render optimal patient care and opposes any efforts to deny an individual’s right to determine their stated sex marker or gender identity.”

Other justifications include the claim that legal sex is usually based “solely on an external evaluation,” that nearly two percent of infants in the West are incorrectly marked down as male or female, that transgenders face harassment and coverage denial for “gender-specific medical services,” and that “sexual and gender identity are characterized by fluidity and change.”

Commenting on the AMA’s resolution over at Crisis Magazine, Thomas Griffin writes that “the medical world appears to be schizophrenic.”

“Noting that sex is based on the science of the body but that someone’s feelings can override the science at the same time is irrational,” he says. “What is being forgotten is the reality of sex and how it unveils what the human person is made for.”

This is a profoundly anti-scientific—indeed, anti-human—stance from an organization that claims to promote “the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.” Pray for all those sincere Christians in the medical field who face enormous pressure to conform and accept the establishment’s sick and twisted anthropology.
