Hi y'all

I recently stumbled upon this nifty little tool which lets you do two very cool things to a thumbdrive:

Flip the "removable" bit (the bit which makes the drive show up as removable / fixed harddrive)

Format a non-bootable thumbdrive in a way that you can boot from it (even when regular formatting and trying unetbootin etc. doesn't work)

It's from Lexar, so I don't know if it will work on all brands, but it worked on my Emtec and a no-name drive I got somewhere. Found it here.

So, tipped off by another user here, I've decided to look into the synthesis of methcathinone. I found THIS set of instructions, and it seems simple enough.

In Canada, Sudafed contains phenylephrine hydrochloride, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in a 120mg "12 hour time release" capsule, or pseudoephedrine hydrochloride combined with other ingredients (e.g. Ibuprofen).

Could I use that as a source of pseudo?

EDIT:

Here are the forms of sudafed available at Rexall, which would be best?

Cold & Cough Extra Strength

Each white, biconvex caplet, coded "SU" on one side and "WL 61" on the other side, contains pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg, dextromethorphan HBr 30 mg and acetaminophen 500 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: cellulose, magnesium stearate, povidone and sodium starch glycolate.

Decongestant 12 Hour

Each white, biconvex caplet, printed "SUDAFED 12 HOUR", contains pseudoephedrine HCl 120 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: celluloses, edible blue ink, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, povidone, titanium dioxide and wax.

Head Cold and Sinus Extra Strength

Each white caplet coded "SU" on one side and "WL 62" on the other side, contains acetaminophen 500 mg and pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: cellulose, magnesium stearate, povidone and sodium starch glycolate (potato).

PE Decongestant

Each round, biconvex, unscored, red tablet with code number "WL80" on one side and PE on the other side, contains phenylephrine HCl 10 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: acesulfame K, celluloses, FD&C Red No. 40 aluminum lake, FD&C Yellow No. 6 aluminum lake, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, povidone, silicone dioxide, starch, stearic acid, titanium dioxide, triacetin and wax.

All credits go to samy kamkar.
He is the guy that released this.
I just thought I would share it here.

PoisonTap - siphons cookies, exposes internal router & installs web backdoor on locked computers.

PoisonTap is built for the $5 Raspberry Pi Zero without any additional components other than a micro-USB cable & microSD card, or can work on any Raspberry Pi (1/2/3) with an Ethernet-to-USB/Thunderbolt dongle, or can work on other devices that can emulate USB gadgets such as USB Armory and LAN Turtle.

When PoisonTap (Raspberry Pi Zero & Node.js) is plugged into a locked/password protected computer, it:
emulates an Ethernet device over USB (or Thunderbolt)
hijacks all Internet traffic from the machine (despite being a low priority/unknown network interface)
siphons and stores HTTP cookies and sessions from the web browser for the top 1,000,000 websites
exposes the internal router to the attacker, making it accessible remotely via outbound WebSocket and DNS rebinding (thanks Matt Austin for rebinding idea!)
installs a persistent web-based backdoor in HTTP cache for hundreds of thousands of domains and common Javascript CDN URLs, all with access to the user’s cookies via cache poisoning
allows attacker to remotely force the user to make HTTP requests and proxy back responses (GET & POSTs) with the user’s cookies on any backdoored domain
does not require the machine to be unlocked
backdoors and remote access persist even after device is removed.

You can now own a unlocked computer in seconds with a $20 teensy or a couple of doller arduino micro and a bit of time with a badusb type firmware.
What is bad usb?
BadUSB is a dangerous USB security flaw that allows attackers to turn a simple USB device into a keyboard, which can then be used to type malicious commands into the victim's computer at super speeds.

There has been a script written called usb driveby

I often wear a microcontroller around my neck, and have a few for a various fun tasks. One that's more interesting is this, USBdriveby, which emulates a keyboard and mouse when plugged into a machine, exploiting the blind trust machines give USB devices.

Specifically, when you normally plug in a mouse or keyboard into a machine, no authorization is required to begin using them. The devices can simply begin typing and clicking. We exploit this fact by sending arbitrary keystrokes meant to launch specific applications (via Spotlight/Alfred/Quicksilver), permanently evade a local firewall (Little Snitch), install a reverse shell in crontab, and even modify DNS settings without any additional permissions.

While this example is on OS X, it is easily extendable to Windows and *nix.

We even evade OS X's security - while they attempt to prevent network changes being done by just a "keyboard", and even prevent most applications from changing position (special authorized accessibility features must be enabled which we don't have authorization for), we evade both of these with some unprotected applescript and carefully planned mouse movements. While a device like Rubber Ducky is similar, it's unable to mount the same attacks as it lacks HID Mouse emulation.

TL;DR: I would check the website since the images do help but the process is a lot simpler. This works in Edge which is the browser used in Windows 10. Using the window.open parameter, you can easily show a warning page and fool people to call you or visit another website.

This Spoof is very real but may not work in some cases, but it works fine enough to be used by some dickwipe. In short, DON'T EVER CALL TECH SUPPORT etc on a blocked page, chances are it's a trap.

Talking about Traps, I probably should do something productive today.

I found this here: https://www.brokenbrowser.com/spoof-addressbar-malware/

Over the last few months, we’ve seen a proliferation of these tech-support scams where users end up “locked” in their browsers with horrible red-screens and messages like “your computer may be at risk“. This is not new of course, but scammers are using more and more tricks to fool their victims.
01-scam-tech-support

They render red warnings or BSODs with fake messages and sometimes they even throw blocking alerts to prevent users from going away. When a user closes the alert box a new one appears, ad infinitum. In fact, the Chrome version that Jérôme Segura sent me was literally freezing the browser by using a continuous history.pushState trick. Bastards.

Jérôme’s sample lead me to read more, and I ended up learning about the SmartScreen on Edge with its protection against drive-by attacks. It’s cool to see it blocking blacklisted URLs. The SmartScreen Demo site is full of samples, and I’ve chosen the malware page.
Smartscreen Demo Pages

It was correctly blocked. I know that other browsers (at least IE and Chrome) also handle these things, but I was happy to see it working on Edge. However, I was curious about where this warning page was really coming from, because the address bar points to a URL but the content of the page is obviously not coming from that blocked site. Is this an internal resource? Let’s find out! Press F12 on Edge to open DevTools, and type “location” in the console.

DevTools Real URL

Wow! It seems the real URL is not the one that appears in the address bar. DevTools is telling us that we are located (location.href) in ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/PhishSiteEdge.htm and the visible URL in the address bar comes from the hash? Also, it looks like this internal page is getting some stuff from the location.search property.

This seems interesting. Can we write any URL in the address bar just by setting an arbitrary string after the hash? Where is this htm file coming from? The protocols ms-appx: and ms-appx-web: are used in modern Windows Apps to load their internal resources. Let’s quickly go to the Microsoft Edge folder to see if this file exists. Open Task Manager, details, right click on Microsoft Edge and select properties.
Edge Path

Microsoft Edge is located in C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\ and the error pages (as shown in DevTools above) inside the \Assets\ErrorPages folder.
PhishSite

There are many files to play with, let’s try to load them from Edge using the full ms-appx-web URL, just like this: ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/PhishSiteEdge.htm

Damn it! It goes to my default search engine.

URL not loading

Let’s try another htm file from that folder, the first one of the list is acr_error.htm. ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/acr_error.htm

Yes! This one loads. It seems to me that Edge is selectively allowing us to load some pages, but not others. What about the next one, BlockSite.htm? ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite.htm

Negative. In fact, if we create a webpage with a link pointing to that URL, clicking on it does absolutely nothing. No loading. Same with scripting. Silence. We will try using window.open (why? described here in the final thoughts) which comes handy in these cases, because if there is a problem the browser will actually throw an error. What do we prefer, a browser that remains silent when it refuses to do something, or a browser that at least complains and throws an error?

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite.htm");
1
2
3

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite.htm");

Access Denied

Now we get an access denied! One thing is to have the browser telling us explicitly that there’s a problem (access denied) and a very different thing is a browser that refuses to load a resource. It’s matter of speed: we can now use a try/catch to quickly retry, on the other hand, using a location.href loads nothing which makes us depend on a timeout or an event (onload/onerror) to see what happened. If we wanted to try a million URLs (think fuzzing) it would have been more convenient a try/catch than using handlers/onload.

After several manual tries using window.open we come to the conclusion that Edge happily loads pages like acr_error.htm but will totally refuse to load BlockSite.htm. In fact, changing any character from BlockSite.htm loads a non-existent page but throws no errors. This means that somewhere in the deep ocean of Edge, there’s binary code that compares our URL with “BlockSite.htm”.

To be clear, this URL throws ACCESS_DENIED
ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite.htm

But changing any character (the “B” of BlockSite in this case) throws no errors at all.
ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/ClockSite.htm

We know that altering a simple character fools Edge, but the page is not loaded because it does not exist . How can we change a character making sure the URL is still valid? Encoding! Let’s try to replace the dot from BlockSite.htm with its ASCII code, 2E, just like this: BlockSite%2Ehtm

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite%2ehtm");
1
2
3

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite%2ehtm");

Yes! Edge allowed us to load the resource now, lets append a hash and URL like this: #http://www.facebook.com

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite%2ehtm"+
"#http://www.facebook.com");
1
2
3
4

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite%2ehtm"+
"#http://www.facebook.com");

Facebook Spoofed

Pause. Enjoy. Continue. So we can now open a very ugly webpage with a spoofed URL. But BlockSite.htm is getting a couple of arguments (BlockedDomain and Host) from the location.search. Let’s use them! (Note for the XSS Masters Gareth and Mario: can we try something better here?)

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite%2ehtm?"+
"BlockedDomain=facebook.com&Host=Technical Support Really Super Legit CALL NOW\:"+
"800-111-2222#http://www.facebook.com");
1
2
3
4
5

window.open("ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assets/errorpages/BlockSite%2ehtm?"+
"BlockedDomain=facebook.com&Host=Technical Support Really Super Legit CALL NOW\:"+
"800-111-2222#http://www.facebook.com");

Facebook Scam
Test the PoC LIVE (on Edge!)

As a bonus, when we place a telephone-like number, a link is automatically created so the user can call us with a single click. Very convenient for these scammers.

Bug hunter, I will stop here but IMO there are tons of things to research. Are you curious about what other things these internal pages do? We can load them all without restrictions now. For example, needie.html is worth checking (if we can bypass more stuff) because it has the power to run Internet Explorer. It didn’t work for me and it’s clear that it opens a different Edge process which deserves even more research. If you want to see it in action, try opening this page on Edge and see how it works.

Finally, if you are curious about how the string comparison happens and why it fails, load EdgeHtml.dll in IDA free and analyze the function CURLBlock::s_IsBlockPageUrl. If you prefer live debugging, a breakpoint in EdgeHtml!CURLBlock::s_IsBlockPageUrl will make it.

Turns out the entire country that has access to fiber is getting Gigabit speeds now. Its pretty fast but to be honest, it doesn't make things that much faster. I haven't noticed any difference in web surfing speeds going from being on the 30 Mbps plan to a 200 Mbps plan and certainly no change now and torrents for me tend to max out at 100 Mbps. Streaming speeds are pretty fast but since I don't have a 4K display, I'm not sure what difference if any there was between 200 Mbps and 1 Gbps. For a free upgrade, i'm not complaining. My ISP believes that typical speeds should be around 600/480 Mbps due to technical limitations but the highest I have seen is 950/570 which I find dependent on time of day since bandwidth is shared between around 30 other customers per node. And to think most of us started on dialup...

http://www.speedtest.net/result/5680966974.png
The drive still worked, so I copied the new files I had on the machine to the original 6 GB hard drive (was in storage for a year as a backup) and then blew out and reinitialized the 80 GB Western Digital drive that had replaced it, then copied over all my files. I was playing with it a bit yesterday, and it was running great and passed all integrity checks. Now that I have my main vintage Apple machine back up and running, I can see to other projects that I've had sitting in cold storage for a while. I hope to get cooking soon!!!

Routers are among the most hackable devices out there — rarely updated, easily compromised, and almost never scanned for viruses. But a new router virus might actually be making the devices safer, according to a report from the security firm Symantec. Dubbed Linux.Wifatch, the bug behaves like a regular virus from the outside: infecting the device, operating undetected, and coordinating actions through a peer-to-peer network. But instead of performing DDoS attacks or looking for sensitive data, Wifatch's main role seems to be keeping other viruses out. It stays up to date on virus definitions through its peer-to-peer network, deletes any malware discovered, and cuts off other channels malware would typically use to attack the router. In short, Wifatch is actually protecting its victims.

It's still unclear where Wifatch comes from or why it was created, but it seems to be very different from the average virus. First detected by a researcher in 2014, the virus seems to make little effort to conceal itself, and leaves various benign messages in its code. One, triggered when a user tries to access the Telnet feature, reminds users to update the device's firmware. Another, dropped as a comment in the source code, repeats a statement from free-software icon Richard Stallman: "To any NSA or FBI agents reading this: please consider whether defending the US constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic, requires you to follow Snowden's example."

Symantec estimates "somewhere in the order of tens of thousands of devices" are infected with the virus, with infections largely focused on Brazil, China, and Mexico. Resetting a device is enough to remove the infection, but the firm warns that a router may become reinfected over time. "Symantec will be keeping a close eye on Linux.Wifatch and the activities of its mysterious creator," the post concludes. "Users are advised to keep their device’s software and firmware up to date."

http://www.theverge.com/2015/10/1/9434521/router-virus-fights-off-malware-security

I finally have the transmitter at my new place but no antenna yet . Hopefully early next year I'll be back on the air and ready to have some fun. Just found out that Radio Totse made a mention in the Pirate Radio Annual 2014 magazine which is fucking awesome. Below is the entry from the magazine which sadly is only available in print form.

Radio Totse
We’re now closing in on 20 years since KIWI Radio operated regularly from New Zealand and was heard across nearly all of North America (and with a good signal in the western half of North America. But new station Radio Totse reminded everyone just how well signals can propagate from the South Pacific.
Temple of the Screaming Electron (TOTSE) was a San Francisco-area BBS that was in operation from 1989 to 1998 and as a website on the Internet until 2009. The TOTSE site specialized in controversial subjects that many sites would shy away from. The idea was that absolutely nothing was off limits. For example, TOTSE was notorious among the mainstream media for such things as users who posted bomb-building plans.
Radio Totse not only follows the concepts of TOTSE, but the station’s operator, Daktologist, is a regular contributor to the totseans.com site, which continues the traditions of the original site. Dak first posted on the site that he would be building a radio station as early as January 2012. From that point, Dak regularly updated readers as to his progress with assembling the station, building the antenna, setting up the generator, etc. Despite all of the interest on the board and the how-to information, none of the other board members have taken the plunge into pirate radio.
Radio Totse uses an Icom IC-718 transceiver into a helically wound vertical with a capacitance hat at about 30 feet. The antenna tower is a guyed PVC mast made entirely from junked components. He also uses an MFJ Versa Tuner II and a Power Max generator.
The first broadcast from Radio Totse that was first reported in North America on August 4 on 6925 kHz USB, but the station had made a few in-band SWBC transmissions on frequencies like 6050 and 17730 kHz as far back as February 2013. In August the station was reported 10 times in North America, then twice in September, five times in October, another five times in November, and once in December. Nearly all of the broadcasts were heard for a few hours between 0700 and 1100 UTC. Radio Totse was reported many more times through the end of the year, however, thanks to a North American relay station that was airing the programs on their own, with no relay IDs. After a few dozen relay broadcasts with no IDs, the station started to identify itself as WRR, Whiskey Redneck Radio by early January. These relays were reported on a number of frequencies--including 6966.66, 6930, and 6940 kHz USB at times between 1400 and 0400 UTC.

Yes, it seems like the mystery has been solved.

We are aware of the United States National Security Agency (NSA) powers to break almost unbreakable encryption used on the Internet and intercept nearly Trillions of Internet connections – thanks to the revelations made by whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013.

However, what we are not aware of is exactly how did the NSA apparently intercept VPN connections, and decrypt SSH and HTTPS, allowing the agency to read hundreds of Millions of personal, private emails from persons around the globe.

Now, computer scientists Alex Halderman and Nadia Heninger have presented a paper at the ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security that advances the most plausible theory as to how the NSA broke some of the most widespread encryption used on the Internet.

According to the paper, the NSA has exploited common implementations of the Diffie-Hellman key exchange algorithm – a common means of exchanging cryptographic keys over untrusted channels – to decrypt a large number of HTTPS, SSH, and VPN connections.

Diffie-Hellman – the encryption used for HTTPS, SSH, and VPNs – helps users communicate by swapping cryptographic keys and running them through an algorithm that nobody else knows except the sender and receiver.

It is described as secure against surveillance from the NSA and other state-sponsored spies, as it would take hundreds or thousands of years and by them and a nearly unimaginable amount of money to decrypt directly.

However, a serious vulnerability in the way the Diffie-Hellman key exchange is implemented is allowing the intelligence agencies and spies to break and eavesdrop on trillions of encrypted connections.

To crack just one of the extremely large prime numbers of a Diffie-Hellman in the most commonly used 1024-bit Diffie-Hellman keys would take about a year and cost a few hundred Million dollars.

However, according to researchers, only a few prime numbers are commonly used that might have fit well within the agency's $11 Billion-per-year budget dedicated to "groundbreaking cryptanalytic capabilities."

"Since a handful of primes are so widely reused, the payoff, in terms of connections they could decrypt, would be enormous," said Alex Halderman and Nadia Heninger in a blog post published Wednesday.

"Breaking a single, 1024-bit prime would allow the NSA to passively decrypt connections to two-thirds of VPNs and a quarter of all SSH servers globally. Breaking a second 1024-bit prime would allow passive eavesdropping on connections to nearly 20% of the top million HTTPS websites. In other words, a one-time investment in massive computation would make it possible to eavesdrop on trillions of encrypted connections."

Around 92% of the top 1 Million Alexa HTTPS domains make use of the same two primes for Diffie-Hellman, possibly enabling the agency to pre-compute a crack on those two prime numbers and read nearly all Internet traffic through those servers.
According to the duo, this NSA technological project to crack crypto on a scale has "not seen since the Enigma cryptanalysis during World War II."

Study: 11% of Americans Think HTML Is an STD

According to a new study

Had a particularly raucous night that ended with you doing the walk of shame the next morning? Uh oh, hope you don’t get HTML. Just kidding! HTML is a programming language that’s used to make websites, but according to a new study from VoucherCloud and published by the L.A. Times, 1 in every 9 Americans–or exactly 11%–think HTML is actually a sexually transmitted disease. VoucherCloud surveyed 2,392 people ages 18 or older and, according to the L.A. Times, “were given both tech and non-tech terms and were asked to choose from three possible definitions.” The results? An embarrassing amount of Americans think HTML is a disease you can catch from another human being–which says a lot about the state of both sex and computer education in the U.S. Other findings, unearthed by the Times:

http://time.com/12410/11-of-americans-think-html-is-an-std/

Hacking mobile phones doesn't really send off any "OMFG you haXd ma fon3" type reactions these days because we know that shit's been around for like, eva. Just look at the "news International phone-hacking scandal" back in the days. It also comes as no surprise that sending someone the right text can cause all sorts of mischievous mayhem with malicious intent. Nope no fucking biggy at all!

So what's your point you fucking idiot?

The amount of time and effort it took wasn't always such an easy task. It took planning, a lot of calculated guess work, blowing an official here and there and not to mention finding or even creating the right software to achieve the task; Who knows? But the simplicity these days is pretty awesome, and since the government benefits from this technology we know the issue isn't going to get fixed in a hurry. Kind of like, if you have guns mr president, then we can have guns too.

Therefore the point my obnoxious friend is simply....simplicity.

Edward Snowden: Smartphones can be hacked into with just one text message and then used to spy on their owners

GCHQ, the UK’s spying agency, has a ‘smurf suite’ of tools that allow it to break into and listen in on phones, Snowden claims from Moscow

The world’s spying agencies have tools that allow them to take over smartphones with just a text message, according to Edward Snowden, and there is “very little” that their owners can do to stop it.

The UK’s intelligence agency has a suite of tools that let it listen on phones and their owners, Snowden told the BBC’s Panorama in Moscow. All spies would need to do is send a special text message and they will be able to gain access to the camera and its microphones, the BBC reported Snowden as saying.

The set of tools is called “Smurf Suite”, according to Snowden. Each of the individual tools has their own name — “Dreamy Smurf” lets the phone be powered on and off, for instance, and “Nosey Smurf” lets spies turn the microphone on and listen in on users, even if the phone itself is turned off.

GCHQ even has a tool called “Paranoid Smurf” that hides the fact that it has taken control of the phone. The tool will stop people from recognising that the phone has been tampered with if it is taken in for a service, for instance.

“For example, if you wanted to take the phone in to get it serviced because you saw something strange going on or you suspected something was wrong, it makes it much more difficult for any technician to realise that anything's gone amiss,” Snowden said.

The comments mirror those by Snowden earlier in the year, when his lawyer said that the whistleblower doesn’t use an iPhone because it “has special software that can activate itself without the owner having to press a button and gather information about him, that’s why on security grounds he refused to have this phone”.

The text message used to gain access to the phone wouldn’t be seen by its user and they would have no idea that it had arrived, Snowden said.

"That's a specially crafted message that's texted to your number like any other text message but when it arrives at your phone it's hidden from you,” Snowden said. “It doesn't display. You paid for it [the phone] but whoever controls the software owns the phone."

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/edward-snowden-smartphones-can-be-hacked-into-with-just-one-text-message-and-then-used-to-spy-on-a6680546.html

I want to extract that passwords which is clearly displayed on the page along with e-mail and username. And store it into an array,

then that array will send that information to another script or a script inside the page which will pass those values into something else. I want to know if there is a way to do this. The language of choice is PHP.

Pretty sure this is simple enough, Here are the resources I have dug up so far.

http://www.oomphinc.com/notes/2013/04/finding-shortcodes-in-wordpress-post-content-using-regular-expressions/
https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/35834/extract-shortcodes-from-string
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_shortcode_regex
http://bavotasan.com/2011/run-a-shortcode-anywhere-in-wordpress/
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/extract-shortcode-out-of-the_content

So, my buddy want to run some VMware machines and he is worried about the OS Fingerprint and Browser Fingerprint. I mean that's some shit that I usually don't bother with. But I know you guys are interested in keeping your dick outside of public eyes.

Here is what I know, Web RTC allows you to do peer to peer communication, it's support by FF, Chrome and Opera I think. It tends to leak your real IP to the network which makes it harder to bypass certain filter. It also leaks these things when you're using a VPN.

Meaning your real IP which you were hiding and faking your location is given away by Web RTC.

According to what I read Microsoft Edge that comes with Windows 10 doesn't have this issue since the support isn't built-in into it. I don't mind using it but come on, there must be a way to stop it.

Methods to stop it so far:

A) Install a firewall and block stuff.
Install a VPN that has Web RTC block support.
C) Use MS Edge

I am not sure what the status on web rtc is on linux but it can't be that good.

Creating Browser Fingerprints:

According the articles and stuff I read, you can create a unique browser signature by adding new fonts, changing time, shuffling add-ons, running some different things, any thing that will create a unique browser experience will make it's finger print.

So, in order to shuffle my browsers, I would either need to install different collection of FF Portable or setup clones of VM's that have different things. One is cost effective the other is NOT, considering how much space each VM takes.

So, my experts friends, got any ideas? Tried playing with things?

I've tried Vuze, Ktorrent, Transmission and qBittorrent. All the ones i've mentioned are good - some are very good (Vuze), and some are OK (Transmission) but none really hit all the checkboxes for me.

What i wanted was a stable, detailed, fast and light client and i've found it It's called Tixati. http://www.tixati.com/

It doesn't try to hide detail from you (which I appreciate greatly) and transfers seem fast. There's an interesting chat system available as well that has P2P streaming audio support.

Negatives:
> Closed-Source (No code is available)
> It's ugly
> Navigation not intuitive

Positives:
> Detailed
> Fast
> Portable Edition
> Cross Platform (Windows, Linux)

Overall: I love this client and am sticking with it for as long a it remains good.

It may come as no surprise to those who know me that I'm not an adobe fan and I've always been proactive against flash. I'd always knew flash player would eventually become dry sand slipping through adobe's hands but in a last desperate attempt to try and recover a little dignity, adobe are trying to solidify the sand with their tears.

After hacker team security got the tables reversed on them by getting hacked themselves it soon came to light that the weakness they exploited for the benefit of government agencies soon became apparent. One of those weaknesses was flash. When this was exposed many opted to kick flash's sad and sorry ass to the kerb. Google has completely dropped it and is using html5, Firefox has followed in the same footsteps in its new browser and I also believe failbook and instigram as well.

This is a big reality check for adobe because we knew there were so many vulnerabilities in flash you could almost consider it the leper of the interwebz. It was also the doorway to unwanted cookies which hacker team took full advantage of. It's a pity it took such drastic actions for adobe to desperately try and recover their losses by attempting to make amends now.

GET PATCHED: Adobe plugs Hacking Team Flash holes and more

Adobe has released patches for its Flash software to fix a pair of critical security vulnerabilities exposed by the Hacking Team megabreach. The bugs can be exploited to hijack PCs and infect them with malware – and crooks are already doing just that, so apply the updates now.

The security bulletin for Adobe Flash Player (APSB15-18) addresses both zero-day vulnerabilities (CVE-2015-5122, CVE-2015-5123). Version 18.0.0.209 Flash Player and associated browser plugins for Windows, Macintosh and Linux replace earlier releases, and constitute a critical update on affected systems.

Adobe was obliged to plug Flash last week because of an earlier 0-day which also emerged from the Hacking Team leak. Flash software is frequently targeted by cybercrooks and spies, prompting growing calls in the security community to ditch the technology.

There have been 11 Flash updates this year alone, and six have come outside Adobe's regular patching cycle as hurry-up patches for zero-day flaws, according to data from the software developer. This is a high patching overhead so it's no great surprise that patience with Adobe is wearing thin.

Facebook's recently installed security chief has just called for timetable to kill off Flash, while Firefox took the unusually aggressive step on Monday of blocking Flash plugins by default pending the patch which has now arrived.

The Flash updates are especially important because exploits targeting these vulnerabilities have already surfaced, as even Adobe admits.

Although the Flash update heads the bill the latest software updates from Adobe will also include a critical update for Adobe Shockwave Player (APSB15-17). Windows and Macintosh versions of the software need updating to version 12.1.9.159 because of flaws identified by Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs that have not so far made it into the wild in the firm of active exploits.

Lastly, Adobe is also releasing updates for Adobe Acrobat and Reader (APSB15-15) to "address critical vulnerabilities that could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system". Multiple bugs are resolved by the patches and Windows and Macintosh platforms are both affected, which sounds bad.

However Adobe attaches a patching priority of "two" to the updates compared to a higher priority of "one" to the Flash and Shockwave updates.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/14/adobe_flash_patch_tuesday/

I’m typing this sentence with my face. And no, I didn’t somehow smash my face onto a keyboard with laser-like precision. I used Intel’s ACAT, or Assistive Context-Aware Toolkit, an open source platform developed in C# using .NET 4.5 and Visual Studio 2012 at Intel Labs to allow people with disabilities to communicate with ease, even in very constrained situations, like Stephen Hawking’s,

As we all know, the venerable physicist Professor Stephen Hawking is unable to talk as he is afflicted with ALS and thus relies on a computer system to communicate. In 2011, his condition was deteriorating so badly that he could best communicate at a rate of only 2 words per minute. He reached out to Alan Moore at Intel and asked if Intel could come up with new technology to help his plight.

Intel was happy to oblige. For 3 years, Intel Labs worked in close collaboration with Hawking to acutely address his needs and in January of 2014, they announced the first stable release that Hawking would use to replace his decades-old speech system. There was a near instant 10x improvement to all common tasks such as conducting a web search or opening a Word document. Fast-forward a few months and now Intel has open sourced the whole platform to allow researchers and hackers to broaden its use for people with disabilities of all backgrounds.

Yik Yak seems to be gaining popularity among uni students locally and internationally. Basically it uses your geographical location to allow people to post messages on an online message board. You can up and down vote posts and once a post receives 5 down votes it is deleted.

Personally I find it funny reading the shit others post and its useful knowing whats going on around the uni but it has some major problems that are mainly caused by its user base such as

*Posts being deleted after being down voted: Basically this limits having an opinion on something and also allows for abuse by other users and trolls. For example someone posts something asking their classmates for help with an assignment which is followed by the trolls down voting it and the subsequent deletion of said post. This also makes threads hard to follow/not making sense.

*General trolling and shit posts. School age children posting abusive items about class mates/teachers etc.

*Censorship of posts involving things like drinking/drug use/having an opinion on local/world events. The list goes on.

Its an interesting idea for an app but it has far too many shortcomings in my opinion.

Yik Yak started with colleges, but CEO Tyler Droll has his sights set on creating a product every bit as compelling as Facebook.

The anonymous messaging app, created by Furman University graduates Droll and Brooks Buffington in 2013, is now used by millions of students on more than 1,600 college campuses from Ireland to New Zealand. Users post text and photos, and people within a five-mile radius can then view them and respond.
The cloak of anonymity is a double-edged sword, though. encouraging users to be more honest but enabling others to go wild — a hard lesson the now-defunct app Secret learned before it shut down in April. In Yik Yak's case, anonymous posts, called "yaks," range from the sassy but harmless — "I know there's a drought but damn you don't gotta be that thirsty" — to the profane and offensive.

In response, some schools such as the College of Idaho recently banned the app from campus. Last fall, Yik Yak stirred up more controversy when a Los Angeles high school went into lockdown following ominous threats published on the app. (The company has since added a pop-up warning that appears if someone tries to post a yak containing a threatening word.)

Despite this downside, Yik Yak is proving a positive utility for times when students cry for help. Users feeling suicidal, for example, are met with encouraging comments from others. In less dire situations, students use the app to organize parties, dinners, study meetups and even dates. In fact, one 20-something couple who met on Yik Yak recently got engaged, the company said. "We didn’t set out to build a dating app, a study group meet-up app or an app to let you know if your car was left on the parking lot," Droll, 24, tells Mashable. "We built this platform to connect you to your community."

The first-time CEO describes the process of managing a fast-growing startup as a satisfying process, but also "crazy stuff."

"I tell my friends, who come home from their jobs, [about my day] and for them, it's not like that at all," he adds.

Yik Yak has raised more than $73 million to date, including a $62 million Series B round last November, valuing the startup in the "low hundreds of millions of dollars," which it is pouring into expansion. The company's 45 employees just moved into a huge new office in Atlanta, where Droll and the crew are still in the process of getting settled.

A local muralist, for example, has spent over a week painting one wall, which includes a giant — you guessed it — yak.

"There are magic mushrooms dancing around," Droll says with a smile, showing photos of the work-in-progress design from his smartphone. "It’s awesome. His style is sort of weird. It’s funky. Hopefully, it'll be done by this weekend."

Decor aside, Droll remains heads-down on building out Yik Yak. Earlier this July, the company expanded the ways users can express themselves by letting them share photos on top of text — a feature the company slowly and carefully tested with a small group of users earlier this year.
To thwart issues around nudity, bullying and sexual harassment, the startup has employees approving those photos before they appear in the app. That's a more hands-on process compared with much larger networks like Instagram, which allows users to instantly upload photos and tackles reported posts if employees think they violate company guidelines. However, Droll wants to err on the side of caution — for now.

"If we get to that point where humans can’t do it, there are a lot of user trust things we can put in place, like machine learning," he explains. "We can make it more scaleable than it sounds. But right now we’re doing well."

Yik Yak is exploring potential new features like introducing video and breaking up users' feeds in new and different ways. Broadening the service's appeal to folks out of college is top of mind, but Droll also points out the service will grow because of Yik Yak's existing users, who will graduate, move on and potentially keep posting anonymous Yaks — a trajectory not unlike Facebook's. The social network started as a college-only service but became the second-most trafficked site in the world, in part because its core audience grew up but remained loyal.

"Facebook nailed that," Droll says. "They didn’t build this one little thing. They built this platform where a lot can happen."

Maybe Yik Yak can do same.

I was getting a little sick of whining about google and decided to celebrate my new Linux distro installation I would moan about microsoft instead.

It's no secret there were gonna be issues with windows 10 at such an early stage. We can all agree on that right! Hell, I get the same problem with Linux distro's, so it's nothing really new. This is why microsoft release a free version into the wild every now and again. This way they can correct issues with funky little things called updates. It sure is a hell of a lot cheaper than using their over-payed staff to sort that shit out. We can also agree that many issues are normally bug related. Right? We'll guess again.

On with the show.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Windows 10: Here are the privacy issues you should know about

Windows 10 has just arrived and there’s a new Privacy Policy and Service Agreement from Microsoft coming swiftly in its wake.

The new policies take effect on 1 August and there are a few unsettling things nestling in there that you should be thinking about if you’re using the company’s services and software.

The Privacy Statement and Services Agreements combined come to 45 pages. Microsoft’s deputy general counsel, Horacio Gutierrez wrote that they are “straightforward terms and polices that people can clearly understand.” The reality is, you’re probably not going to read them. So I did…

And, like so many other companies, Microsoft has grabbed some very broad powers to collect things you do, say and create while using its software. Your data won’t be staying on your computer, that much is for sure.
Data syncing by default

Sign into Windows with your Microsoft account and the operating system immediately syncs settings and data to the company’s servers. That includes your browser history, favorites and the websites you currently have open as well as saved app, website and mobile hotspot passwords and Wi-Fi network names and passwords.

You can deactivate that by hopping into settings, but I’d argue that it should be opt-in rather than on by default. Many users won’t get round to turning it off, even though they would probably want to.

Cortana is a sexy spy in the machine

Turn on Cortana, the virtual assistant, and you’re also turning on a whole host of data sharing:

To enable Cortana to provide personalized experiences and relevant suggestions, Microsoft collects and uses various types of data, such as your device location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts and how often you interact with them on your device.

Cortana also learns about you by collecting data about how you use your device and other Microsoft services, such as your music, alarm settings, whether the lock screen is on, what you view and purchase, your browse and Bing search history, and more.”

Lots of things can live in those two words “and more.” Also note that because Cortana analyzes speech data, Microsoft collects “your voice input, as well as your name and nickname, your recent calendar events and the names of people in your appointments, and information about your contacts including names and nicknames.”

Realistically, Cortana can’t work in the semi-magical way it does without being able to gobble up all that information. But it’s worth being aware of just how wide-ranging its access to your and your friends’/contacts’ data is.

Whatever happens, Microsoft knows what you’re doing…

The updated terms also state that Microsoft will collect information “from you and your devices, including for example ‘app use data for apps that run on Windows’ and ‘data about the networks you connect to.'”
Advertisers will know exactly who you are

Windows 10 generates a unique advertising ID for each user on each device. That can be used by developers and ad networks to profile you. Again, you can turn this off in settings, but you need to know where to look:

Your encryption key is backed up to OneDrive

Not necessarily a bad thing but something you should be aware of. When device encryption is turned on, Windows 10 automatically encrypts the drive its installed on and generates a BitLocker recovery key. That’s backed up to your OneDrive account.

Microsoft can disclose your data when it feels like it

This is the part you should be most concerned about: Microsoft’s new privacy policy assigns is very loose when it comes to when it will or won’t access and disclose your personal data:

We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to protect our customers or enforce the terms governing the use of the services.

I’m not suggesting Microsoft and its lawyers are alone in making provision for such sweeping power over your data, but we should all be very careful about relying on the “good faith” of corporations. I’m not even sure such a thing exists.

This wasn't meant to be a plugin review but more a drunkin slur. Oh well! Here it is, Canvas Blocker for Firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/canvasblocker/

Ok! Many of us know “Private Browsing Mode” isn’t really private at all and the same can be said for “browser plugins”.
Recently I tried out a plugin called Canvas Blocker on one of my portable browsers which is based on Firefox but seems to be misread by many sites as Safari. (Pfft, who would’a guessed?)
Anyways, what is Canvas Blocker?
The best way to explain Canvas Blocker is to let them explain it because it will save me typing and give me more prime time with this perfectly fine looking bottle of 42 below.

Canvas is an HTML5 element which is used to draw graphics and animations on a web page via scripting in JavaScript.
But apart from this, canvas can be used as additional entropy in web-browser's fingerprinting and used for online tracking purposes.
The technique is based on the fact that the same canvas image may be rendered differently in different computers. This happens for several reasons. At the image format level – web browsers uses different image processing engines, image export options, compression level, the final images may got different checksum even if they are pixel-identical. At the system level – operating systems have different fonts, they use different algorithms and settings for anti-aliasing and sub-pixel rendering.
This is the first live demo of the Canvas Fingerprinting. Below you can see if HTML5 Canvas is supported in your web browser and check whether this technique can keep track of you. In addition our little continuing research will show how really unique and persistent canvas fingerprint in real life, and whether your signature in our database (we don't collecting anything right here!).

This plugin isn’t a great asset if you’re a facebook whore or even a youtube junkie. Hell, most (if not all) popular social networking sites these days think the html5 and JavaScript combination are basically an orgasm in ones pants. However no one whores this philosophy better than google because everything google is, well, html5 and JavaScript.

Gmail
Previously when I logged into gmail I could manage my accounts (Delete them from showing and shit) and now google have conveniently taken that toy from this child’s grasp, it gives the feeling of control loss if you know what I mean. Now when you sign in it remembers you signed in from that specific computer even if you don’t click the stupid box and this kind of sucked especially if you were signing in from a shared computer. (Speaking about suck, where’s that bottle) With Canvas Blocker activated this changes shit and google is like “WTF! Where’d he go?” You still can’t manage your accounts like before but at least you don’t get recognised by google. The downfall however is you can’t send or even reply to emails which I’m quite happy with if I was only reading them. If you have to reply to an important email then just deactivate/send/reactivate and reset with a browser restart, easy.

Youtube
Remember them good old days when flash was all the craze and you weren’t socially etiquette if your system didn’t have flash? Many of us knew the sins of adobe flash over the last decade and youtube and google realised the future of flash would come to a close so they used html5 player over adobe flash. For you youtube whores this is a good thing because html5 is more secure than adobe flash but just remember it doesn’t keep you anonymous nor do I doubt it will keep you safe as vulnerabilities start getting discovered as time progresses.

So far Canvas Blocker breaks the HTML5 vid player and youtube vids don’t work because it uses canvas. Basically if a website wraps a canvas tag around an html5 function you can best believe that specific part that canvas tag is relevant to won’t function. In layman terms this means it will fuck certain features up on a website that relies on it. I realise, for some people youtube is an addiction which is fair enough but I won’t lose sleep because I missed a cutesy kitten getting mothered on a puppy’s penis video. Anyways, I can just wait for Dfg to upload that shit on the forums in .gif format; I’m a patient individual with lots of time to kill.

Facebook
I don't fucking know because I don't have a goddamn failbook accout but maybe the staff here can confirm it for you and add it to this post. But what I do know is failbook use canvas which means if failbook is involved it must be intrusive in some form or another.

What the fuck has this got to do with private browsing mode?
I guess this is more a warning to those who like their privacy by relying on this plugin. Canvas Blocker works as intended but if you activate it in conjunction with private browsing mode this will override the Canvas Blocker plugin like a prison bitch in a cell full of bad ass dudes dressed in orange jump suits on heat. The way I see it is private browsing mode is quite the opposite of its intent and not as private as how they portray it. I could cloak this in a conspiracy theory but ahh, I’m to semi-pissed for that shit after wrestling with this goddamned keyboard and bottle of vodka for this long. My theory here is if something doesn’t serve a purpose nor does it do what it’s intended to do then get rid of that shit because worthless code just slows down my internet experience.

Movie studios keep asking Google to remove pirated content on their own computers

Google search results sometimes include a tiny message at the bottom that some sites have been removed for sharing pirated content.

Those requests come from movie studios and other content rights holders who manually submit links to be taken down.

What’s pretty hilarious is movie studios have been submitting takedown requests that include links to pirated content stored on their own desktop computers.

Here’s Universal Pictures France asking Google to take down files for Jurassic World hosted at ‘http://127.0.0.1′ — which is the system’s ‘localhost’ address — where a BitTorrent client appears to be running:

READ ----> http://thenextweb.com/insider/2015/07/23/hahahahahahahaha/

But wait, there's more! They're also requesting google to take down other non related shit to pirating including IMB. Perhaps they didn't like some of the reviews.

Each block of text is now recorded into an audio, I need to assemble the answers and play them in a sequence.

Like

1123

1 = Q1-Audio
1 = Q2-Audio
2-Q3-Audio
3-Q4-Audio

Right, using Jwplayer, I am need to make a playlist so it plays it in the exact sequence.

So, far JWplayer have given me this hint:

http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1439570-example-loading-new-playlists

But it doesn't mention a list of files.

I dug around and found .smil but it's used for RTMP which doesn't work for mobile.

So, after digging more, I found a way. To make this work I need to create an RSS file which saves the file. That can later be accessed later on. It has to be backward compatible in a way.

http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1413113-configuration-options-reference

http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1403635-media-format-reference

Above are some reference articles.

So, lets talk about psuedo code.

User takes the quiz > Reaches the confirmation page > Results are send to the script > User opted in/results details send as well.

User opens e-mail > Clicks link > Gets taken to result page > page shows information based on the results.

Okay that is already working and in place

The script that opts users in and does the processing is the same one slarti help me create, you know the image thingy. Yep this the exact one.

PHP

Parse Query String
Var answers;
var quiz;
answers  = filename;
answers = playlist;

loop for playlist;
takes number [1024 or something] and assigns them file name.

Answers logic.
q1 = 2 choices = 2 audio files, values 0 1
q2 = 3 choices = 3 audio files values 0 1 2
q3- 4 choices = 4 audio files values 0 1 2 3
q4 - 4 choices = 4 audio files values 0 1 2 3

So, if the value is 1 2 1 3
q1(audio2)q2(audio3)q3(audio2)q4(audio4)

Array has the values stored in, it takes the values and makes and RSS file in the correct syntax (this is will be difficult)

saves the file in the correct folder.

fp create file 'quiz+filename', a; //embeds the quiz type [MM/PENG/EX] + filename [0123]
fp saves the rss the file and is later called in the result file.

===========================================

Result file

parse query,
takes answers and quiz type.

JWPLAYER CODE.
rss link.
Links to to the domain with rss files saved.
www.test.com/results/quiz+answers.rss

So it will be unique and won't get duplicated

JWPLAYER loads the files and simply plays it.

RSS Syntax

jwplayer("myElement").setup({
    playlist: [{
        image: "/assets/sintel.jpg",
        sources: [{
          file: "/assets/q1audio1.mp4"
        }],
        title: "Sintel Movie Trailer",
        tracks: [{
          file: "/assets/captions.vtt"
        }]
    }]
});

Now this is the hard part, how I can make a file like that save it? Not really sure on this, Slarti any comments?

Type: Imation SATA 3 external
Make: Western Digital
Model: wd10jpvx
Capacity: 1tb
SATA 3

I got given a reasonably new external of about 3 months old and since the dude who owned it lost the receipt his warranty is void. He downloaded a shitload of movies onto it from someone elses external and it kinda fucked up. You know, the usual windows warning sorta shit about not recognized, would you like to format it, bladee, bladee, blah, blah. After listening to windows "bad advice" it kinda all turned to mustard. Like literally.

I've run almost everything to try and recover it with great names like testdisk, parted magic, disk part, gparted, everything on the Hirens disk. and nearly everything on my Kali live disk. I don't want any of the shit on it just the HDD itself.

What I'm after is the exact sector size for this specific model or even suggestions that I may have missed or just don't know about

Online advertising represents the economic foundation for much of the Internet’s content; however, it also represents a significant cost to individual and enterprise users who must pay to download the ads to their platforms in order to view them. The present study rates the effectiveness of Adblock Plus – an open source, ad-blocking Internet browser extension – in reducing network data requests. Ultimately, there is a 25.0% reduction in bytes downloaded, a result that increases to 40.0% when video traffic is considered in isolation. The implications of these results for enterprise users are also considered.

This study was funded by the Adblock company, which is telling of their long term motives. They're trying to pivot themselves as a network utility for enterprise customers. It's probably a good approach for them considering the holes they've poked in their filters.
