I always hated IRC personally, even back in the days where that was really the only place to get pirated content. Even today I only use it to connect to my private trackers IRC network for reasons of staffing and getting credits on the site. I've always been more of a forum person. IRC just seems to dated but all the other protocols of communication besides the dying forum are even worse. Twitter? Facebook? IM? Fuck that shit.
