There is a factory near swim which manufactured cars until recently.
~1900 staked out, inconspicuous, waited.
~2000 after parking, walked to the store and bought some powerade
~2015 walked through back lots, through woods, to perimiter barbed wire fence
~2025 waited. security personnel patrol perimeter
~2035 defeated first fence, crossed parking lot
~2037 defeated second fence, walked past maintenance building towards my waypoint, the ladder leading to the roof.
there were a lot of close calls. got the shots he wanted, explored the massive roof. fortunately, the security personnel were having some sort of a party, using the factory PA system to play ethereal samba/rock music and yelling.
Getting out was a challenge, since he did NOT want to leave the way he came. next time, will bring a utility tool and maybe a small flashlight or lockpicks.
basically, he ended up jumping the front gate right next to a security guard. BALLS.
I haven't actually Last night I went for a walk in the dark and did a little bit of sneaking around, trying to avoid making dogs bark and making sure the security light didn't turn on as I walked past a policeman's house. Other than that, Night Ops has been pretty dead for me lately Yourself?
Yeah not a lot for me either. I haven't had much time to do anything in between school work and going camping, so haven't been out much. To top it all off, I have some spare time at the moment, but tonsellitis has fucked me up, so I can't even eat without my throat feeling like I'm swallowing sandpaper.
As soon as I'm better, I should be going out 1-2 times a week, with reports.
Bought these cracking gloves for £29.99 the other day. So damn grippy and will be using them for Airsoft but also Night Ops come the opportunity. Brand is 5.11

Those gloves certainly helped when it came to an explore the other night. In my Town there are numerous building projects as the Government wanted to get first time buyers an affordable place.
Every damn time I walked past the place I just had to take a peek. Walking the dog was my recon cover, and so far there appeared to be no security guards. During the day there were builders, but nobody at night. Or so I thought.
I decided to go out earlier this week and have a nose around. Long story short, my Night Ops are mostly always out of curiosity. New houses, old abandoned pubs, posh places I'm not supposed to be in. You get the idea.
So I set out at 11:30pm, slightly earlier than anticipated but I couldn't wait any longer. I had packed the following
5.11 gloves
maglite
painkillers (as per usual)
Dark blue combats
Black turtleneck (Archer style)
Army Magnum boots
Tripod (strapped to my back)
Camera (Canon EOS 400D)
Nothing illegal or suggestive. I had no idea what I was going to face.
So off I went at 11:30 (aka 23:30hrs) and headed down a path lit by only one streetlight. I was familiar with this place as it's not far from where I live at all. It's like the back of my hand.
After doing my recon, I found a good access point to the rear of the newly built estate, and decided to enter there. A few snags on bushes, but I was unscathed. What I saw before me were a few JCB diggers and a load of secure fencing. I had to squeeze through the last metal fence and the mound of mud about 5ft tall to get in. I also had to go through this way to get out. My boots narrowly avoiding clanging against the corrugated metal that was the security fence. My arse covered in mud. Sign of a good night already.
It was 23:50 by the time I got in. The maglite had aided me in navigating to the entrance which, as I said, was a hole in a fence surrounded by thorns and brambles, and then over a mud hill and by the side of a fence.
I was in.
As customary, I like to squat and survey before moving. I had done all I could to minimise noise upon gaining entry and now I needed to see or listen for any security.
None so far.
23:55, I decide to walk through one of the houses and inspect the plans. Not too spacious, but still an interesting layout. There was damp concrete still setting in the foundations, so after dipping my steel toe caps in, I avoided it.
In front of me were the streetlights going into the regular entrance of this estate. To the left of where I was standing was a shipping container and right in front of me was a ladder.
I'm one for sitting on top of tall buildings at unsociable hours. So bring it.
Still, with the camera bag and tripod on my back and the torch in my pocket, I climbed the ladder. The wind picking up and my feet shaking. Wobbly. This wooden ladder seemed a death trap, now more than ever being on the third storey of a house - sitting in the attic.
I got up there.
Phew.
I set the tripod up but nothing seemed normal. Sometimes when i do this I can tell if all is well, like the somewhat infamous photo of me sitting atop a building, but this didn't seem right. The estate is quite freaky at the best of times, and I had a feeling someone was watching me.
"Put the tripod away" I slowly repeated, the wind blowing my words away.
It was really starting to get blustery up there now. The blue roof tarpaulin making more noise than anything, covering my noise of movement. I couldn't lean back too far as the attic was incomplete, but I maintained a low profile and then...a light.
"Anyone there?" a low voice called out.
"Oh shit" I muttered, zipping up my camera backpack and sliding the tripod onto my back.
"I fucking asked if anyone was here...I know you are" the voice said again.
At this point things became blurry. I knew someone was here, and I knew I was effectively in an enclosed area.
I had to get out.
As the torch weent off and the dark, tubby figure moved away from underneath the place I was sitting (as he was now within the house I was on top of) I decided to take my chances.
As the wind picked up I clung to the ladder as close as I could, and used the tarpaulin noise asa cover for my footsteps. A quarter of the way down I heard a tutting noise and more footsteps.
he was coming towards me.So I stay put for the next few seconds.
1...2...3...
He had passed. But only just when I slid down the ladder wearing my trusty gloves to avoid any splinters, ran through the wet cement and escaped the barrage of expletives and "OI!" coming from this security guard. As I ran I held onto my flappy pockets and aimed for the now memorised gap in the fence, vaulting over the 5ft mound of soil and face first into the brambles.
I was out. But only just.
I heard a series of bleeps, similar to that of a walkie talkie so I knew I had to move fast. I couldn't sit in these bushes all night.
I emerged from them, talking the long route round home and passing a group of drunk guys. I'm sure they would give Security enough hassle had I stayed longer.
And that was that. My heart had never beaten so fast.
Reminds me of a similar thing I did a few years back. There was this massive (tasteless) house under construction, about half done at that point, a few blocks away from me. There was a 24-hour on-site security guard in one of those wooden 'hut' things. I don't know if he slept there or if the company took shifts, but every time I walked past the place he had the door shut. This was at the front entrance to the property, so as long as I could slip past that I would be safe as long as I was quiet. I went past during the day and took a bunch of photos of the work in progress.
I went out relatively early (about 10pm). There's a huge park between my house and this, so I didn't have to go through any streets. The site was blocked off by those moveable fence things they use to close of building sites at night, but there was a big enough gap between two of them to get through, with a large and convenient mound of sand between it and the guard post. I cringed as one of my bulging pockets snagged on the fence and rattled it, but luckily it didn't stir him, and I was in.
I take a walk through the ground floor and then up a flight of stairs to the second, taking in the pretty cool view. I was tempted to climb the scaffolding to the roof but didn't for a few reasons. I hate climbing things and it might make too much noise. I walk into a room and nearly trip over something on the floor. It appeared to be a large black bag... but it was breathing. The guard hadn't been at his post so either he'd decided to go inside and sleep on the fridgid, wet cement floor or some homeless guy had got in. Luckily, he remained fast asleep so I very quickly left the room and carried on through the 2nd floor.
The house had an enormous entrance 'lobby' which gave a cool view from above. I went out and took a look round the pool area and left through the far side of the property. I had to take pics with the flash off so you can't make out much, unfortunately. I didn't want to take a chance with it with the place being totally exposed to the street on both sides.
I've recently put some select items on my wanted list and have made the decision to "liberate" them from their current owners as I am currently spreading myself thin financially on other projects. This, of course, means beating the dust off of most of my equipment which has gone unused for quite some time, the only nocturnal pursuit I've taken to lately is nighttime survival.
The first objective we'll call "Big Red". It's quite large and quite heavy. Worse yet, I don't even know where one might be but surely there's one hanging around here somewhere. Restored it's worth quite a pretty penny but I want it for my personal collection. So tomorrow I'll be doing some innocent daytime scoping in areas that might be carrying Big Red and try to sort out a plan of attack. When I find the best area, I'll be operating shortly afterward for liberation.
There are some old pictures floating around the internet but the reality is I've got enough ops/hunting/camping/military items to start my own store. I try to go as basic as I think I can get away with to keep it simple though. Maybe I'll take some new pictures sometime.
You might have me confused with someone else, I never been big on picture show and tell. I posted some basic equipment pictures and totally random shit like my cardiac arrest stun glove but that's about it. I wrote a bunch of guides back in the day but eh, not important. Old news. Plus I've my head up my ass a good deal over the past 4 years roughly, so the way I see it I'm really no more legit than anyone else here at the moment. Just back to being a greedy asshole, that's all.
I probably confused you with someone else then, as I'm sure I've seen a lot of pictures from a certain member there... I can't remember who it was. There was a lot of equipment pictures, as well as some pictures taken out on Night Ops. Pretty cool stuff, and there were some stories to go with the pictures.
Searching revealed no visible Big Reds in my area, only a similar item we'll call "Little Red" that's not only half the value, but it's really not what I want. I know for a fact there's one out in the open 13 miles from here in a different city, so I'll have to look again when I'm over there. I wouldn't mind Little Red as well, but it's sitting in an antique shop on a busy, well-lit corner making it nearly impossible to carry away without being seen. Maybe if an opportunity presents itself.
I seem to be one of the few people who still have Chaos Penguin's 'Ghosts' guide. I remember some years back he went on a mission to get rid of it from everywhere and was pissed off when people kept putting it up. Fuck him; I'll stick it up somewhere to download.
^ Chaos penguin's guide is still online brah, it's on some shitty freehost website if I remember correctly. Unless you're talking about something other than this...

I haven't seen anything by Chaospenguin other than that particular Night Ops guide I wonder if there's a way we can contact him and persuade him to post something else
Yeah, same guide. In fact I'm pretty sure I used to 'know' the guy who made that site, unless I'm confused with something else. It's a damn good guide, especially coming from a 14 year old. They don't make 14 year olds like that anymore, lol. I used to near worship him back in the day and still do, in a way.
Unfortunately he seems to have cut all ties with the forums and night ops world. I recently tracked him down on Facebook and sent him a rambling psychotic email, with a vague mention of night ops perhaps. He didn't reply Perhaps he'll listen to someone else.
I've got a bunch saved somewhere in complete HTML and I believe some other people do as well from the forum. I'll dig around later if you want and see what I can pull up.

I'd love to see these HTML archives of the original Night Ops threads That would be awesome, and I'm sure a lot of us here would love to see them again.
Well guys, I thought I had more but this seems to be all I've got. I, III, and part of IV. I believe I ended up leaving before IV was finished so I never archived it, as I did most of this back when these were still newish topics - you can see in some of the files that the page count doesn't go up all the way because I saved it before it went higher. The modified dates also reflect this. Also, the pages don't link because I was a noob and didn't know how to properly rip threads and shit back then, but it should hold some of you over until someone comes forward with a more complete, proper achive.
Feels like ages ago. I guess it was, shit I must have been at very end of 16 when I first posted in the first topic...
Edit - [just read first post] Holy shit I had a big mouth. Shut up, younger Psychlonic you're incriminating the shit out of yourself. :facepalm:
Enjoy.
By the way, I keep a rather extensive library on all things "fringe", night ops work being among them. If anyone is looking for any particular guides just let me know. I used to have trouble distributing because my connection was slow but that's not a problem these days. Since it came up, here's ChaosPenguin's "Ghosts" to whet your appetites:
It's already up above but hey, here's a DL version. Random bonus: Here's a MSWord document on lockpicking a friend of mine was working on when we had a planned joint guide in the works but scrapped it due to, well, laziness. Needs Microsoft Word or equivalent .doc reader to view.
At least a couple of these were done by another member of the old guard, BazookaMedic. They're all shown to scale with size references so you can print them out at real size to base your picks off of. For those who don't know what I'm going on about, they're "life size" templates you print and trace a material with to cut and file your own picks. You can make good picks out of hacksaw blades, street sweeper bristles, brick/lumber strapping, or any other good quality steel that has been tempered. There's nothing magical about store bought, with a file you can make them just as good if not better. Polish them off really well so they slip around the lock with some sandpaper or whatever is on hand FTW. Make some and try it out. :thumbsup:
I'll take a look. In the meantime, here's the thread about enfaded Serenicity's Army base break in from 2006. For those who weren't around, this was LEGIT, there was a video online about the whole incident and a huge shit storm went up over there in Australia.
The end of this thread seems pretty gloomy, but the odd thing is that later he reported how the court concluded "boys will be boys" and the whole matter was essentially dropped. I know a guy who might still have that video sitting around on a HDD if someone else can't get it up first. But it's real and anyone new to this should check it out. Anyone who talks shit on night ops has NO idea what we used to do.
That sounds incredible. I wasn't around for that, but fuck... I love totse.com a whole lot more after hearing about that. You guys are legit as shit, that's for sure. This thread makes me want to go out and sneak around at night.
Looks like I'm pretty much out of anything else from &T. That really wasn't my gig other than the night ops community to be honest, I thought everyone else there was a faggot back then, more or less (and still do to be honest, which is why you don't see me at Zoklet where the imbred migrated to). For what it's worth and for those who might not know, these two guide are from former night ops members, one being the founder basically and the other a prominent member:
Oh shit... nostalgia. First ever NO post is there by the founding father himself :thumbsup:
Yeah, pretty old school. Almost 10 years ago, now. I only ever talked to him once on AIM on personal matters but he was freaking out after taking a shit ton of meth to get over the issue. I sometimes wonder whatever happened to that guy along with other people, I seem to remember his last posts indicated he had found peace with himself, so to speak, and maybe he just decided the risks of night ops weren't worth the rewards anymore in comparison to whatever he had in life. I suppose a lot of people get like that. Maybe I should have a long time ago, but fuck that. I think I've got that mental condition that thrives off high risk situations. Or maybe just brain damage lol. I know a lot of those old people have moved on entirely though, completely cut the cord and want nothing to do with the scene. Last time I saw a HARDMAN post, he was pissed off at something I said regarding an MMA fight (this was back when Brock Lesnar debuted in the UFC and I seemed to be the only guy who thought he had a chance, which is funny when you look at it in hindsight)
So this isn't totally worthless, here's another guide: http://www.mediafire.com/?6cldsxvdsu28g38
"Techniques of Burglar Alarm Bypassing". It should really be called "Alarms for Dummies" though because it's written and illustrated in such a simple way that anyone can get a basic grasp on how modern security systems work. Now, it doesn't give you all the solutions to get around them but it's a good entry level read that will at least let you know what you're up against and what NOT to do. Even if you decide to never tamper with alarms in your night ops expeditions - and there's plenty to be said for not letting them spoil your fun - it's still good info to have on hand.
Sometimes I'd have the sleeves tied closed so they didn't flap about. I can post a list of the individual items and places to order them if you like. 90% of 'ninja' stuff on the web is utter shite but there are some good quality sources. The green belt is just for dojo, I got a black one too just for NO use. The belt is pretty tight so you can just drop the stuff you need down the 'jacket' part without it falling out (forgot what it's called :facepalm:) instead of needing extra pockets and pouches for everything.
Walked along dirt track through the many fields near my house heading south toward the side road. at 0240 hrs I stopped as I could see a milk tanker coming along the road. after it passed I crossed the road and followed the track south when I walked into a boggy, mud/cow shit covered section of track. After crossing into the field I headed toward pylon 0123, Where I attempted to cross an electrified fence and managed to get shocked through my shoe when I stepped up into the wire. I then found a way around it and reached the base of the pylon which was buzzing like a cunt and made small noises hard to hear. at 0300 hrs I headed west along the track until i reached an underpass where the track passed under the road. This was also muddy so after following the side wall of it where the dirt was dry i emerged from the other side and climbed up onto the road. Upon heading north I saw the lights of a car in the distance so I lay face down in the ditch until they passed. All of a sudden they stopped and turned around. I though "fuck I have been spotted" However they passed by me and carried on.
I then exfiltrated home at around 0345 hrs.
Things learned.
* Keep a lookout for cars and people.
I feel like the op helped me get a feel of hiding from a potential threat. I would like to try to infiltrate populated areas once I get the skills required to pull something like that off.
Second night op.
Load out
Dark green jacket
Navy blue jeans
GPS
Small LED light
Camera
Sneakers
Weather: Light rain, cloudy, no moon.
Location: nearby fields near my house
Objectives: Get a feel for navigating through unfamiliar terrain.
Red line is highway, yellow is secondary road and white are side roads.
Infiltrated at 0130 hrs
Walked along road from area marked "Active Log" on aerial imagery. Headed south for around 400 meters before crossing west into a field at around 0135 hours.
Headed down a light slope in a westerly direction for around 150 meters before crossing a fence and turning south heading toward pylon 0122 on the map. This is one of the electricity pylons
that carry 220,000 volts and was buzzing like a cunt as it was raining. Crossed two fences before reaching the pylon at 0145 hrs. I then headed back north toward pylon 0121, upon crossing one fence and following the fence to the west of me I heard a noise and stopped immediately before realising that there were calves in the field with me. After being followed and sniffed by one calf. I took a photo of it and crossed a gate before heading further north and crossing the next two fences. After reaching pylon 121 I headed toward a hedge and followed it west where I found a gap to get through before heading north toward the next pylon. Unfortunately I had failed to recognise a drainage ditch and after looking for an alternative route, i managed to cross it and found myself stuck in a maize of wide ditches. After finding a way around them I reached pylon 120 and had a rest.
The pylons made it easier to navigate in the dark and gave me a reference point to use with the google earth screen shot on my camera. At 0215 hours I headed west to follow the fence line south toward a hedge which I was to use as a navigation aid to find the main highway 1 km west of my position. Following the hedge west I came across another ditch 300 meters from the highway which I needed to cross. I could have travelled 800 meters north and crossed at a bridge but that would put me near a house where people were having a party so I couldn't risk being seen. I found a long timber post in the field so I made a makeshift bridge to cross and ended up getting my feet wet testing the strength of it. A car then came along the highway as i was approaching at 0300 hrs so I hid in the long grass until it was gone before crossing the fence and making my way 400 meters south along the road side until I reached the intersection with the side road I live on.
There I decided to hide in the grass beside the highway and take a photo of a passing car with the flash on as speed cameras around here use a flash during the night and I thought it would be lulzy to scare some random speeder. I saw the lights of a car approach from around 800 meters away so I waited until they were right near me and took the photo. I looked up and their break lights came on as they slowed and carried on along the road. I then walked the 3 Km back to my house and exfiltrated at 0330 hrs.
Things learned.
* Check for all obstacles before setting out
* waterproof shoes are a must
* I am unfit as all fuck and need to exercise more
* My camera is shit for night photography.
So after two somewhat successful training ops in the weekend I would say that night ops is definitely an awesome activity. Now to find someone who is willing and capable of night ops to go and do a co op mission with.
Pics
After the last op I checked the odometer on the gps which i set to zero before I left and I had managed to walk 6.2 km during the op.
Are you sure you want someone to night op with you? It's a tricky decision to make, and can often lead to you getting caught if the other person isn't good enough. Plus, two people are more easily spotted than just one. Think about it, but co-op missions are great fun

I wouldn't mind trying it just to see but then again as you say two people are more easily spotted than one.
Whenever I did co-op missions, we'd set a meeting point to gather ourselves and then head off in separate directions equipped with voice comms, such as walkie talkies. We'd complete a mission and then return to the rendezvous, before heading back home. Pretty good way of approaching things, and it's good to split up so you're a much smaller unit.
So I am planning a op to explore and photograph an abandoned psychiatric hospital that closed 13 years ago. The majority of the buildings are still there and it is located around 5 Km from town in a rural area. The land is now used as an experimental government owned dairy farm and that land surrounds the hospital. From what I know so far is that 3 security guards live in a house on site and patrol the place in vehicles 24/7 so avoiding them is a major part. They are there as there is still a lot of copper fittings that they don't want stolen (copper theft is common in this area), also there are large amounts of asbestos in the buildings so I may wear a dust mask while on the op.
I may do this op towards the Christmas/new year season as there may be less chance of the guards being active. Vehicle insertion is the only way in as I live 20 Km from the site. I will try to find 2 other operatives to work with, one driving and the other with me. The driver will park up in a gravel pit near the railway line 3 Km away and have a radio with him as so to have contact with us when we need to exfiltrate.
Map:
The hospital is within the red circled area. The gravel pit is the blue mark within the yellow circle. He will be in the coverage area of my radio's as they have a 10 Km range at 2 Watts.
Aerial View:
In this image, the hospital is the cluster of buildings in the center of the image.
Planned load out:
* Black long sleeve shirt
* Black tactical vest
* Black pants
* Knee and elbow guards. (make crawling far easier especially on gravel)
* Black gloves
* Balaclava
* Dust mask
* Black boots
* Knife
* Baton
* Red LED lamp
* White LED lamp
* Pry bar
* Penlight
* Camera
* Tripod
* GPS
* Radio
* First aid kit
* Black rucksack
I will most likely add to this list when I do a drive by of the place tomorrow. Once I get my equipment sorted I will go for some practice ops to get a feeling for my new kit before the main op. The other 2 operatives I will take on a few dry runs to see how well they work with me and mainly to get a feel of whether or not I want them doing the op with me.
Ideas, Suggestions. Let me know and I will make changes to my plans. I want this op to be a success and hopefully have pics to show for it.
Are the knives and baton legal to take with you, being a Commonwealth Country? Other than that, it sounds pretty foolproof from my experience. Good touch with the radios as you can minimise fuss if SHTF. Also, dark blue is less visible than black at night

I would use the knife as a tool rather than defence as I don't want to end up killing someone. Looking at the laws here in NZ batons are legal and can be brought at hunting and gun stores. I have no problem with cracking someone's ribs if it came down to it. I would most likely get my brother to drive as I can trust him more than most other people. I just need to find someone interested in coming with me on the op that I can trust.

You spent 138 years doing a night op? That's some dedication.
As soon as I'm better, I should be going out 1-2 times a week, with reports.

And yeah, I'm the dude from there.

Does he have any other guides that were floating around?
Unfortunately he seems to have cut all ties with the forums and night ops world. I recently tracked him down on Facebook and sent him a rambling psychotic email, with a vague mention of night ops perhaps. He didn't reply Perhaps he'll listen to someone else.
I'd be very grateful for this.
Anyways: http://www.mediafire.com/?sm181ssnk61btcq

:thumbsup:

The end of this thread seems pretty gloomy, but the odd thing is that later he reported how the court concluded "boys will be boys" and the whole matter was essentially dropped. I know a guy who might still have that video sitting around on a HDD if someone else can't get it up first. But it's real and anyone new to this should check it out. Anyone who talks shit on night ops has NO idea what we used to do.
Edit: This page 1 after the shit storm hit and everybody was editing their asses off freaking out from paranoia haha...

The Definitive Guide to Infiltration by infrared
A Tactical Manual for Nighttime Missions by HARDMAN
They're available elsewhere in PDF form and otherwise, but these really bring back the nostalgic feeling. Provided by the lovely Zoklet, ironically.
Edit - hey actually, here's some old school comedy:

Not exactly night ops related, but I apparently found it funny enough to save anyways.
So this isn't totally worthless, here's another guide:

Another one.

Infiltrated at 0230 hours

I wouldn't mind trying it just to see but then again as you say two people are more easily spotted than one.
* Black long sleeve shirt
* Black tactical vest
* Black pants
* Knee and elbow guards. (make crawling far easier especially on gravel)
* Black gloves
* Balaclava
* Dust mask
* Black boots
* Knife
* Baton
* Red LED lamp
* White LED lamp
* Pry bar
* Penlight
* Camera
* Tripod
* GPS
* Radio
* First aid kit
* Black rucksack
