New computer build

So I'm planing to build a new computer sometime soon.
My question is should I wait for the new Haswell chip or just do it now.
anyone have an opinion on this??

Never by leading edge tech. You are paying for R&D. Buy one or two tiers below leading edge to get the best bang for your buck. This is from the perspective of a guy who built speculation systems and sold them for 10 years in various markets.

CPUs reached "good enough" stage in about 1998. I wouldn't be too concerned with buying the latest CPU.

i7 Sandy Bridge is more than enough if you ask me. Anything over that is overkill.

I agree with the statement above, no need to go all out and buy the latest tech... I mean if ya got the ends, then spend.

I myself havnt bought any new tech in awhile as being the "computer" guy you tend to get alot of free PC';s etc as is. lol. As far as AMD vs Intel... myself I mostly have lintel CPUs, thats not by some choice or hatred of AMD... just how it is.

and I have always bought from newegg... they haven't done me wrong, I know that's not the case for everyone tho, but just set in my ways I suppose.

I run a SSD for OS and scratch drive purposes, but still use SATA drives for storage sake. Post the specs of what you may settle on!

Will 128 gigs be enough? Just wondering, it's just that downloading films and all that will zap that space away. I'd aim for 500 Gigs upward.

I have a 2 tb drive I can use for storage the 128 gig drive will be for the os and any games I'm playing at the time.

128 is more than enough for an OS .... Oh hang on!! I use bodhilinux.

128GB is enough unless you want to install other software's I am hitting 8.6TB already.

Yeah, stuff like Adobe takes up a massive amount of space. So does music programs too because they all have allot of plugins. I've got Sibelius, Cubase, and Ableton Live with quite a few plugins like Ivory Pianos.

Cubase, makes adobe software look like dedicated dos, (cool software though) reaper is even worse.

Necro bump.
I just got my power supply and case in today.
Went with a Antec case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129179
The thing is fucking huge I love it.
I went with a EVGA power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438006
It looks ok it's not as heavy as I expected but it is fully modular and got some good reviews.
Also purchased a battery backup/surge protector http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842102070
My power went out the other night so I decided that I wanted one.That's all for now, nvidia is coming out with the next gen cards in a few weeks and Haskell will be out soon so i think I will be able to get a third gen i7 and a gtx680 for a good price soon.
