I know limewire sucks balls I should probably try something else for downloads. The good news is I think the comps fine now I finally got the anti virus up and it deleted the threat. I tried bittorent but I cant ever get the file to open. I click on the play button in it and nothing happens.

In everyone's porn watching career, they come to the point where they realize that downloading porn isn't a good idea. Just stream it.

    Download VLC
    Download 7zip

You can now open everything and view any file in existence. Congrats.

First step to curing virus and trojan problems...

UNPLUG the Internet. I'm not shitting you. Way back in the day I never figured it out and I know a lot of other people would rather hold the line and continue doing what they normally would do with the virus scanning in the background. It makes a big difference.

Unplugging the Internet is one way to defeat a lot of viruses and trojans that "phone home" to get orders. Many will simply self-replicate either immediately after being deleted or on a timed basis if you are connected.

Don't worry about firewalls either, they really don't help you with shit unless you know which file is infected getting access to the Internet. Plus if you disconnect the internet when you are clearing house it defeats 50% of the point of firewalls. Hackers aren't going to waste time breaking into your machine to get diddly shit when they could just slap a trojan on there and call it a day. That defeats the other 50%.

Run a thorough virus scan. I'm talking the two hour plus one. Not just once. Throughout the entire day and the next morning to make sure it isn't self-replicating or timed. If you are disconnected on the first scan that finds all the nasty stuff 9/10 you will be solid to turn your connection back on and run those other virus scans with relative immunity. The purpose of disconnecting is simply to stop from phoning home.

If all of that still didn't help look for an AV like Avast! that does that extra "boot scan" that all AV software should do but don't. At least not the free ones.

Lastly, go to your Program Settings and look through it at least once a week carefully and remove all the bullshit you don't need/use. This prevents random bullshit from building up that you are afraid to uninstall because you no longer remember what is what. Never install those browser tool bars, EVER. I don't care if it came from Microsoft or Google themselves. Stay the fuck away from those hole ridden add-on crapware.
