Well, that didn’t take long.
Joe Biden is already losing his inaugural staff — White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced Friday she will be stepping down from her position next year when the right person to replace her is found, according to Business Insider.
“I think it’s going to be time for somebody else to have this job in a year from now or about a year from now,” she told former fellow Obama staffer David Axelrod during his podcast, “The Axe Files,” on Thursday.
“I don’t want to miss moments. I don’t want to miss things, and I’m very mindful of that as well,” she said.
“It’s a great job,” she added. “It will be hard, but I also never thought I’d be here, and I also love my kids a lot.”

Psaki, who delivers regular press briefings as the public face of President Joe Biden’s administration, said she wanted to be able to spend more time with her two young children.
Psaki is a communications veteran and seasoned Democratic operative who worked on Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign in 2008 and subsequently served on his White House communications team as his deputy press secretary and deputy communications director.
She later became the spokesperson for the State Department before returning to the White House in 2015 as Obama’s communications director.
Psaki has a long history with Biden when she was a member of the Obama regime. Still, she was viewed as a surprising pick for her position as press secretary after spending the interceding four years working in a variety of media, academic, and consultant roles.
In her interview with the Axe, Psaki said she took her present position after previously striking an agreement with the Biden transition team to fulfill the role for roughly a year, meaning she will likely be departing around January 2022.
“When I talked to the inner circle of the Biden orbit, we talked about coming in and doing this job for a year, which was quite appealing to me for many reasons,” she said.
“One: What a moment in history to be a part of. It’s always true in the White House, but following Trump, if you can take the temperature down a little bit, that’s a cool thing to be a part of.”
The job of press secretary for any administration is difficult, but Psaki’s has been a lot easier than any of the four people who served as former President Donald Trump’s chief spokesperson — Sean Spicer, who’s now with Newsmax TV; Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who is now running for governor of her home state of Arkansas (with Trump’s blessing); Stephanie Grisham, who was first lady Melania Trump’s press secretary; and finally Kayleigh McEnany, who is now a contributor at Fox News.
Each of them was regularly shouted at, badgered, and pilloried by a contemptuous press corps that had never treated any of Obama’s press secretaries similarly — and who have much more respectful of Psaki.
Either way, we will wish Ms. Psaki well — something Trump’s press secretaries never got from anyone on her side of the media aisle.
