NFL Legend Brett Favre Wants Politics Out of Sports… “I want to watch a game!”

In an interview on the ‘The Andrew Klavan Show’, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre spoke his mind on politics in professional sports. He expressed that he would like to see politics take a backseat when it comes to sports because it’s ruining the game for many fans who don’t want their sporting events to center around political issues.

“I know when I turn on a game, I want to watch a game.”, Favre said, “I want to watch players play and teams win, lose, come from behind. I want to watch all the important parts of the game, not what’s going on outside of the game, and I think the general fan feels the same way.”

Favre thinks political involvement has become all too common in pro sports and has taken on too much of a prominent role, and many fans agree with him. In the interview, he said, “I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘I don’t watch anymore; it’s not about the game anymore.’ And I tend to agree.”

In recent years, politics have been pushed to the forefront of pro sports with athletes kneeling for the National Anthem and the MBA All-Star game being moved from GA in protest of new voting laws.

In regards to players kneeling for the National Anthem, Favre said, “Something has to unify us, and I felt like the flag, standing patriotically — because Blacks and whites and Hispanics have fought for this country and died for this country. It’s too bad.” He went on to say that kneeling for the anthem has “created more turmoil than good”.

Although respectfully justifying his opinion, Favre has faced expected backlash from the Left. He faced similar criticism during the 2020 election, Favre expressed his support for President Trump, tweeting “My vote is for what makes this country great”.
