You can use a lighter to remove inktags, if there is no way of getting the merchandise out of the store without getting caught, but using a lighter to melt the plastic would smell really, really bad and most likely attract attention. What I recommend, is getting the stuff home. Heat a knife up really hot on the stove, then cut through about 1/4 an inch from the point of the tag. You may have to reheat the knife. Depending on how you cut it, you may have to get past a little plastic dome inside with a spring and a cylinder metal piece. Just melt the plastic dome (or cut through it) and pop the spring out carefully along with the metal. Then there's the 4 little balls inside that keep the inktag together. You have to remove the balls before pulling the tag apart or it'll blow up. Just pop them out with a knife. I've only seen 2 kinds of inktags and they are pretty much the same. I'm almost positive that they don't set off door alarms, so I suggest you remove these at home not at the store. You can also freeze the tag and pop it off with a screwdriver. Have fun...I know I do. :)
