Where to find the Priory of Sion
by Giovanni Kossuth
First of all a thought on why the Priory of Sion chose to emphasize the Merovingian connection between Mary Magdelan etc... and their order.
I'm not sure how well people even in France know their own history; I'm not French and don't know much about the French educational system, but what stands out about the Merovingian dynasty is that it's the last dynasty which ruled Gaul before the Holy Roman Empire of Charlemagne was formed.
The Merovingians moved in while the Roman empire was still a living reality for people, in fact ruled over a population known as Romano-Gauls, i.e. descendents of Roman Citizens in Gaul who lived by their own law.
The Carolingians, that is the empire which Charles
Magnus, Charlemagne formed, was the first
Germanic dynasty to totally break with the Roman
world and declare that a new order had come into
being. This new order, of course, included the
Roman Catholic Church in all it's essentials, and
was in fact the start of the medieval Church. In a
way this was the start of the cover up about the
different traditions of Christianity which existed in
the Classical world. Hence the Priori of Sion being
enthusiastic about associating themselves with
the last dynasty ruling France which did not buy
into the medieval Christian worldview.
Ok, enough of that. I'm going to give away a pretty
good surprise. I've been sitting on this info for quite
a while, in fact resigned from the Priori of Sion
E-Mail Listserve (not run by it) because if I
continued with my posts I would have given the
game away. But I really don't care at this point. So,
readers of the Unofficial Dagobert's Revenge list,
here are the organizations that are either fronts for
the Priori of Sion or which run the Priori of Sion as
a masonic-occult rite along with their other
activities.
They are: The Sovereign Sanctuary
(http://www.sovereignsanctuary.com)
The Sovereign Sanctuary runs a U.S. Branch of
Memphis-Mizraim as well as being the only U.S.
representative of the Rose Cross of Gold rite,
which is directly descended from von Hund's Strict
Templar Observance. It also runs a U.S. affiliate of
the Priori of Sion, I believe, although it doesn't of
course say it on it's web page. It runs an
interesting program called the Collegium
Fabrorum, which is sort of a combination Classical
liberal arts program and Orphism instruction
class.
Then there's the French Gnostic Apostolic Church
at http://www.gnostique.net . It is basically the
Gnostic tradition as was established in France by
Mary Magdelan, although they don't exactly say this,
and then augmented by the Templars and others.
It's not a random gnostic entity. They outline their
history, and it's pretty clear that their history is the
history given for the Priori of Sion, although with
PoS specific events censored out. There's even a
link between a PoS research site and the French
Gnostic Apostolic Church. Thy actually claim
Templar origins and have articles on their website
which give a compelling case for their spirituality
being derived from the Templars in a direct way.
As the Church says, there are many orders within
it, but the ones listed on their website are the most
important.
What else....well, there's an interesting church in
the New York City area (Bronxville) that's
connected with the PoS called the Old Templar
Church. http://www.oldtemplarchurch.org
It's a Templar-spirituality based Independent
Catholic Church, which observes the basic
attitudes and general beliefs of Catholicism while
differing from the Roman church in making the
pursuit of mystical experience and other things,
derived from the Templars, it's main focus.
Then, finally, there is OSMTH, the Ordo Supremus
Militaris Tempi Hierosolymilitai
