OXYCODONE IMMEDIATE OD???????
First of all I use oxycodone every day all day. I am prescribed this drug for pain as well. Sure I abuse it and I use all forms and dosages of this drug.
Here are the names for you who do not know:
Percocet 5mg/325 7.5mg/325 10mg/325
Roxicet 5mg/325 7.5mg/325 10mg/325
Endocet 5mg/325 7.5mg/325 10mg/325
Dolacet 5mg/325 7.5mg/325 10mg/325
325mg is acetaminophin(tylenol)
Tylox which is similar in dose contains 175 more milligrams of acetaminophin bring its dosage forms to: 5mg/500 10mg/500
All the drugs listed contain oxycodone and are administered P.O.(by mouth). They are in a class of drugs labeled (IR) immediate release. Which means they are instantly delivered to your systems without a timed release. However the P.O. route instantly destroys half the drug's potency before it reaches the blood. Making they P.O. moderatley safer than any other.
Now in addition Oxycontin is oxycodone in its purest form and the only difference between the oxycodone in precocet and the oxycodone in Oxycontin is its PHYSICAL not CHEMICAL form.
Oxycontin is oxycodone-pectinate
Percocet in Oxycodone-Hydrochloride
This difference has no effect on its potency.
So in response to john doe #1 statement that crushing a 20 oxcontin is immediate OD consider this FACT
Percocet 10mg/325 is to be administered the folowing way according to the AMA:
TAKE 1 TO 2 TABLETS AT A TIME. 4 TIMES A DAY AS NEEDED FOR PAIN.
There you go J.D.#1 a doctor and the American Medical Association have just told you to take 20 milligrams of oxycodone at once.I guess they are asking you to kill yourself huh? .....an ex EMT maybe...B.S.
I have taken 40 mg at once...here i am...
I have a friend who (although i would never recommend this behavior at all) takes 80mg I.V. (by needle)5 times a day. And this could only be done if you have built up a tolerance to the drug overtime. Now anyone who had never taken this drug before faces a severe chance at death in shooting up 80mg at once. Cause like I said the stomach destroys half of the drug.
The first time I ever tried oxy i took 20 mg at once.
And here is probably the best info i have about oxycontins. YOU DONT HAVE TO CRUSH THEM THEY ARE HARDLY DISSOLVABLE IN WATER. YOU CAN EASILY WASH OFF THE TIME RELEASE TURNING THE PILL COMPLETELY WHITE AND TIME RELEASE FREE WITHOUT DISSOLVING ANY OF THE OXYCODONE PECTINATE.
