GHB... It can ruin your evening!

On top of cocaine, ecstasy, meth, xanax, weed & the other drugs everyone had been doing nearly everyday for the past few months, we had added a new one to the list. GHB. As you work up a tolerance to the drugs you do everyday, you tend to want to try the new high. So I tried the GHB. I did like a cap full & liked how it felt. I did some more. I did another cap full & felt so good that I was high all night until I passed out. The next day I said, "I want some more GHB."

The next night we bought the GHB from a different guy.We bought the party favors and went to the party. I didn't realize the potency varied depending on who made it. I guess I was naive. Okay, I was a dumb ass. I drank the exact same amount as I had the night before. I felt good, I danced, I was the life of the party yet again. Then I got tired. I wanted to take a nap. I went to the back room and layed down. The party went on around me and the last thing I remember is falling asleep. I woke up in the ICU. I had fallen into a coma & was actually pronounced dead once. Someone found me and I had turned blue. They argued for a while about what to do. While someone was doing CPR they argued that if they called the police people would go to jail since they were all doing drugs. They wanted to drop me off in front of the hospital. The guy doing CPR told them I wouldn't make it to the hospital if they drove me. I had stopped breathing and he couldn't find a pulse.

By this time, the chic dying had kinda ruined the party & killed the high for everyone, I'm sure. Finally they realized this wasn't a joke, that I was dying, and they called the ambulance. They did CPR until the ambulance arrived. The ambulance people stripped me butt naked & did the shock thingy on me & intubated me. They said I was dead when they put me on the ambulance. I'm still kinda pissed that everyone saw me naked. Like that was the priority at the time, right? Anyway, they pronounced me dead at the hospital, but I started seizing and they realized I wasn't dead. I slipped into a coma after that but I woke up a couple of days later. I felt like shit, I looked like shit. I had tubes up my nose, down my throat, in my arms, even peeing for me. It sucked. First they wanted to arrest my then boyfriend for giving me the GHB. They detained him because they said if I didn't wake up, he was going to jail for manslaughter. Then when I woke up, they asked me if I took it on purpose. I said I couldn't remember...I had some memory loss obviously. Finally I said I did take it on my own. They put me on suicide watch because nobody believed that you would drink GHB on your own unless you wanted to die. I finally got to go home.

I had memory loss and slow brain function for a while. I would forget things like my last name, phone number, if I had taken a shower that day or not. It took over a year for that to pass. I still struggle more than I used to. Now that I know what GHB really is (it's used as a floor stripper, how scary is that?) and how the potency varies so much, I won't do it. Neither will anybody else that saw what happened to me. Not that there are "safe" drugs out there, but I think GHB is probably one of the more dangerous ones. I feel more confident when I do a line or take a hit of x that I'm not going to die from it.
