May 20 8:00 The Pilot: Part I, #04-0423
May 20 8:30 The Pilot: Part II, #04-0424
The pilot for George and Jerry's sitcom "about nothing" is
cast, taped and aired. Is that good news? Not for George,
who fears for his life, saying "God would never let me be
successful." He also finds fault with the actor (Larry Hankin
as Tom Pepper) playing Kramer, who loses a shot at playing
himself when nature calls during his audition. Meanwhile, NBC
president Russell Dalrymple (Bob Balaban) is obsessed with
Elaine, whom he has dated just once. But Elaine is disdainful
of his job. "You're part of the problem," she tells him.
"Maybe if you were in Greenpeace..." And she has her own
fixation - with waitresses whose hiring was based solely, it
seems, on their physical attributes. The viewing audience of
the pilot, "Jerry", is composed of many familiar faces that
have been seen throughout the past season. Except, of course,
for Newman (Wayne Knight), who is sound asleep in front of a
Yankees game. Among the familiar faces are: Susan (Heidi
Swedberg) and Allison (Kari Coleman), Sid (Bill Erwin) and
his housekeeper (Lanei Chapman), John-John and Marla (Jane
Leeves), The Drake (Rick Overton) and The Drakette, Ping (Ping
Wu) and Cheryl (Maggie Han), The Bubble Boy and his parents
(Brian Doyle-Murray and Carol Mansell), Morty and Helen
Seinfeld (Barney Martin and Liz Sheridan), Tia (Jennifer
Campbell) and Calvin Klein (Nicholas Hormann), and Sidra (Teri
Hatcher) and Sal Bass (Tony Amendola). Rita: Anne Twomey.
