Centralism: A Sphere of Political Influence
Centralism is a partisan concept that promotes the idea of seeing Politics in relation to mathematics. People determine whether they lie to the left or to the right of a principle, which creates a graph of people's ideologies. Using geometry to graph the axes and points where our political views are today, it will give you a better idea of Centralism.
Imagine yourself on a line that is infinitely long. As you glance to the right, you see Conservative or Republican Party, and to the left is Liberal or Democratic Party. This represents the main ideological differential of American Politics. It is a one-dimensional line with no beginning or end.
Now if I take away a line but put a compass on the ground, you can still look to the left or to the right, but now you also can look forward and backward. The X-axis is where the ideas of left and right wing are based. The Y-Axis on the other hand shows what people want to do with themselves.
The Y-Axis of our graph is broken into forwards and backwards. Forward thinkers want to move forward with human progression into a Utopia of sorts, most closely represented by the Libertarian Party. On the other end of the spectrum, backward thinkers want people to get more in touch with the past and with nature, as exemplified by the Green Party. You can plot yourself anywhere on the plane of existence. This is our two-dimensional plane, which allows you to represent a second aspect of your views.
We now add a third plane, the Z-axis that goes up and down. Looking up, represents those who feel that power should go to everyone (communists/ direct democracy), while downwards on the represents the ideology that the power should go to one person (Totalitarian).
The image I have attempted to describe to you is a sphere, infinite in radius with three different axes. The X-Axis represents the Morals Axis, because people's inner ideals are based on it. The Y-Axis represents the Society Axis, because it is how people want to shape future society. And finally, the Z-Axis represents the Power Axis, because it shows where people want to place their power.
With this model, we can plot people's political ideologies anywhere on this graph, depending on the three variables. Then politicians can use this to determine the overall consensus of the people's beliefs and use them to shape the government of the country. It also makes political parties three-dimensional.
Let's graph a middle aged man. He is liberal, but not a strong one, so he is close to the origin of the graph on the negative area of the X-Axis. But he strongly believes in looking forward to the future, so we move him forward on the Y-Axis. In addition, he also believes in giving the people the power, so we move him up on the Z-Axis. This point shows where he exists compared to every one else in the world at that point.
In conclusion, this paper shows you how an individual's politics are related to a simple plot on a graph. Through the use of a geometric graph, we can take everyone and represent him or her as a point. We call it Centralism, because everything relies on the center of the graph for absolute neutrality, and everything coming off of that is what people believe politically.
