Violence Never Solves Anything

America is a nation born of violence. It started during the days of the American Revolution when the British colonies fought and killed their brothers for independence. The Killing continued during the civil war when differences in economic views caused the American Civil War. It is no big surprise to see the violence continue in to the Nineteen Hundreds. The violence this time had changed, Americans no longer fought their brothers, and cousins. They started get involved politically and militaristically in lands that held American interest. In the Philippines it was Emilio Aguinaldo. Much later in a more modern theatre of war it was communist leader of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh. And currently America is searching for the phantom Osama bin Laden. The reasons for global hatred for Americans is that since the country was founded the best way to solve a problem in another country was to go in and kill the person or persons who were less likely to adopt American policies. Islamic fundamentalists believe America is the enemy because of the many wars we have waged and sponsored in and between Islamic states for almost half of the century.

America had settled into the north American continent well during the Eighteen Hundreds. The nation expanded, over lands that used to be home of the Native American. Where once the braves of different tribes defended their hunting grounds from other tribes, there is a shopping mall. They filled the country up and soon needed to expand. They needed to find an outlet for their surplus goods, that were being produced. New markets could be found in Asia. There was a large ocean between America and Asia though, the largest ocean on the planet the Pacific. The Philippine islands would make a great addition to the American empire, and allow our ships to fuel and be able to successfully trade with the rest of Asia. There was a problem though, the Spanish were already fighting for the Philippines but that didn't matter America would just fight them, and take the Philippines. The war was fought in the Philippines and in Cuba; it ended with Spain and America Signing a treaty in Paris, which gave America the Philippines. Some Americans didn't like the annexation of the Philippines, either because it was imperialistic, or because of racism, and a fear that the Filipinos would not be able to adopt the institutions of northern Europe. In 1899 the senate ratified the peace treaty and paid Spain Twenty Million dollars for the Philippines.

Filipinos, not Spaniards inhabited the Philippine islands. And they didn't like the Americans much more than they like the Spaniards. It was not long until they took up arms against the Americans. Soon there were seventy thousand American troops fighting the Filipino insurrection. Realizing that they could not live in harmony with the Filipinos the Americans decided to set up a democratic government in the Philippines, then with draw forces. It wasn't until nineteen thirty-four that the Americans gave the Philippines their independence, and eight years later the Japanese took it away from them again. When the Second World War was over in Nineteen Forty-Six the Philippines became their own nation, as set out by the Tydings-McDuffie Act.

After the Second World War, Americans had a new group of people to hate, a Different type of Government to over throw. Communism the idealist theories of Karl Marx had seeped its way out of The Soviet union and was starting to spread in to Asia. The Americans fought a long drawn out war in a little known, hardly recognizable country known as Vietnam. Vietnam was not really a war, since the Senate and House of Representatives never declared war. It was a policing action under the order of President Kennedy and President Johnson. After years of fighting the "war" was finally over and the Americans armed the South Vietnamese and got out. The NVA, and the Vietcong were still around, and came for them. Many fled, to Saigon or shed their military uniforms and attempted to hide in the general population. Vietnam was another fight against an enemy that was based on a fear of another country gaining too much power. The leader, Ho Chi Minh was a communist, and if another country fell victim to the red fog shrouding the earth, then it would mean more power for the Soviets.

The Fight against communism didn't necessarily start with Vietnam but it is a good example of bad judgment on the part of the President. Islamic peoples fell victim to American Foreign policy far before the Buddhist in South East Asia. In the year Nineteen Fifty-Three The American government staged an insurrection, known as a coup, over throwing a democratically elected leader in the nation of Iran. Muhammad Mohossadeah was over thrown because he was a strict nationalist, and would not accept American contributions to allow them to build bases, missile silos, and electronic monitoring equipment to spy on the growing Soviet Union. After his refusal he was removed from power and the dictator Shah was put in his place. Shah was a corrupt leader and was over thrown by Ayatollah Khomeini, because of the actions of his SAVAK a secret police force that would eliminate his internal enemies. Later on in the century a similar event happened in Chile, in Nineteen Seventy-Three the United States government over threw a democratically elected leader named Salvador Allende, by over thrown I mean had him murdered. The following regime under USA approved Salvador Allende would kill over five thousand Chileans. Later on During the Reagan administration America became involved in Contra's in Nicaragua by the time it was over there were Thirty Thousand dead Nicaraguans.

The contras were becoming expensive, partly because at the time the government was also sending billions of dollars worth of weapons, and money to Sadam Hussein. To fight the Iranians, who we had lost our power over. The Iranians knew where the weapons that killed their brothers came from, so they took over the American embassy and held many Americans hostage. So in Nineteen Eighty-Three, the US agreed secretly to sell weapons to Iran for a discounted price for the release of prisoners, America also needed the money, to fund the Contras still going on in Nicaragua. The Americans it went through on its way to South America siphoned off mostly half the money. The war between Iran and Iraq along with a continued support for Israel in the Middle East was causing Arabians to die by the thousands.

In the beginning of the last decade of the millennium, Sadam Hueissen used the weapons he had used to kill the Iranians, to invade Kuwait. This started Operation Desert Storm, America couldn't have one man, or nation having control of the large oil source under Iraq and Kuwait combined. When it was over Sadam Hueissein was still in power, because he made a good scapegoat and he also attracted the attention of Muslim radicals, because he did not condone terrorist activity in the Country of Iraq. Since the end of Desert Storm in Nineteen Ninety-One US bombs have fallen on Iraqi soil on a weekly basis. An estimated Five Hundred Thousand Iraqi children have been killed during the decade of bombings.

The Islamic people on a whole are peaceful people, living their lives simply by the word of Muhammad. For the over One Thousand Years Europeans have been killing them. It started before the famed Crusades; Holy Wars fought almost a millennium ago. Radical Islamics believe that it is their duty, and right to fight against anyone who causes wages a war against a nation of Islam. After a thousand years of attempting to keep peace, a fundamentalist group known as the Taliban started to gain popularity. The Taliban was used by the Americans to fight the Soviets, they went along with it for a while, but obviously was getting tired of being puppets, with a Caucasian pulling the strings. The US aided Taliban ruled Afghanistan, up until two thousand when they gave Two Hundred and Forty Five Million dollars, and gave Afghanis CIA training. Realizing that they were helping a direct enemy of Islam, and a group that supports Israel the Jihad started.

On September Eleventh Two Thousand and One Osama bin Laden, led a group of militant Muslims on a well-coordinated attack against a violent aggressor, instigator, and murderer. Four planes were hijacked, two flew in to the world trade center, and one in to the Pentagon, and another headed for the White House crashed in Northern Pennsylvania. They had avenged the deaths of millions of innocent Islamic; men, women and children by taking the lives of three thousand innocent Americans. Quickly the Americans invaded Afghanistan, but the elusive Taliban leaders had escaped. Quickly after tearing Afghanistan apart with their invasion, troops were already set to invade Iraq. Even though Sadam Heuissein didn't harbor The Terrorist, or have any weapons of mass destruction. In fact Sadam Heuissein had abandoned his nuclear program, and Iran is closer to building an atomic bomb. Maybe it is just the American tradition to want to follow in your fathers foot steps. George W. Bush had completely ignored the reconstruction of Afghanistan, threats posed by North Korea, and Iran. All he has done is attacked and destroyed a nation that just so happened to be an old enemy.

Many people would argue that Sadam Heuissein needed to be removed from power, because of the Extermination of the Kurdish people in northern Iraq. When in American History have we ever cared about the mass extermination of groups of people before? During world war two, the Holocaust actually helped America prevail. The holocaust could have been easily stopped by bombing the rail ways that moved Jewish prisoners, to the camps, or by even bombing the camps them selves. This was never done for two reasons; one, the camps held little or no strategic importance and two, the camps occupied Nazi soldiers, colonels, and generals while wasting a lot of money the Germans could have used to fight the war. Even to this day in the south eastern nation of Cambodia the dictator Pohl Pot has massacred half of the nations population, and many of them have fled to America, the redeemer nation. America sits by and lets it happen, because it doesn't directly affect Americans, and neither did the gassing of thousands of Kurds.

The real reason America attacked Iraq, and removed Sadam Heuissein from power is because of the money. Or more the money used to buy oil in the free world. Currently OPEC doesn't accept Visa, only cold hard cash, and only American cash. Which makes the dollar bode fairly well in the world market. Heuissein suggested to OPEC that they adopt a Euro Standard. This would mean that oil barrels would cost roughly fifteen Euros a piece, instead of fifty-five dollars. Which would make the sway of the dollar less in the world economy, thus widening the national deficit.
