Extremism, A Badge of Honor

Extremism - The Mark of Excellence
by Pete Celano

This morning's "news" paper contained a human interest story about
some folks preparing to qualify for the Olympics. The story
mentioned a gymnast who practices 7 to 8 hours each day, a
marksman who shoots three to four hours each day, and many
others.

After a stunning and brilliant piano recital, this conversation was
overheard:

"I really enjoyed your playing. You were wonderful!"
"Thank you."
"Really - I would give my life to be able to play like that!"
"I did."

The Olympians and the pianist are serious about being the best.
They are not interested in being good or excellent - they want to be
the best. They push themselves to the extreme, and accept nothing
short of being as close to perfection as humanly possible. Then
they push it further.

Being the best requires rare and extreme dedication, patience and
effort. What a contrast to the "moderation" that is the catchword of
the day! Being labeled "extremist" is politically incorrect, and to be
avoided. Taking anything to the extreme is considered bad, and
frowned upon by society. The extremists are ruining this country -
right?

As a nation, we no longer accept moral or ethical boundaries. The
notion of absolute right and wrong is just too extreme! Living up to
high standards and striving for excellence is what made this nation
what it once was. Moderating those standards is what is destroying
us!

With this in mind, I offer you the modern definition of an
extremist. An extremist is a person who exhibits one or more of the
following qualities:

Has an explicit philosophical base.

Has a concise, inflexible moral code.

Has an ethical standard which is not relative or situational.

Believes in a Creator God.

Believes that life, liberty and property are sacred.

Is willing to stand up for these principles and beliefs.

Do you qualify? If you do, our nation needs you. We need new
leaders who are willing to adhere to extreme standards and
principles for a government Of The People. We need a populace
who goes to extreme measures to educate themselves and take
responsibility for a government By The People. We need to take
extreme measures to end the existing mutation of our
constitutionally limited republic, to return to a government For The
People.

We have become a nation of moderates. We are reaping mediocre
results. Without extremism, there can be no excellence. What we
need are more extremists!
