Police State: Soldiers, Cops and Rampant Ignorance

by Al Lorentz

Recently I had the displeasure of having to sit through a Federal Court as a trial consultant and to endure the noxious, officious and high handed manner in which our public servants conducted themselves. I got the distinct opinion in dealing with everyone in the Federal Court system from judge down to the Federal Marshall Security force that I was a lesser peasant in the presence of high nobility. Whether it was the imperious “all rise” commandment bellowed out by the Federal Marshal whenever “his honor” the royal judge himself entered or left the courtroom or the attitude displayed by the Marshals that they had every right to search and generally manhandle the citizens who pay all their collective salaries.

I was to become even more disgusted.

The judge, a public servant obviously immune from having to face the general public in an election (being a political appointee) insisted under penalty of fine and possible jail for contempt, that the jurors wear suits and ties in “his” court. The famous saying that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” came to mind as obviously, the judge had forgotten what it was to be a public servant and had taken on himself the mantle of nobility. Everyone groveled, went along with the program, and we all got to live another day in “security”, our slave chains being only slightly uncomfortable at times.

I was tempted to lecture the judge at one point, a futile act as he did not choose his behavior accidentally, but realized that, in life, we must choose our battles wisely. While this can at times become an excuse for cowardice, it should actually be a maxim for wisdom. I know where my battle is and so should we all.

Our battle is not with the individual soldiers, cops and other minions who will come one day to enforce the grand and glorious police state. Frankly, if we wait until it comes to that point, the battle is probably over. Our battle against the police state rather, is here and now, and we have two main enemies.

Our primary enemy is ignorance and it must first be rooted out of ourselves and shown no mercy or quarter at all. We must not allow ourselves to be spoon-fed the propagandistic pabulum of the utterly corrupted and controlled media. We should reject the disinformation, lies and manipulation as thoroughly as we would poison for indeed, that is precisely what it is. We must embrace the truth, however painful or difficult it is for us to deal with, and having embraced the truth, we must conform our lives to the truth.

The truth is, we are lazy and ignorant.

I don’t mean to be unkind but I include myself in this as well as anyone here reading. When was the last time any of us read the works of the Founding Fathers, the Federalist or Anti-Federalist Papers, or simply re-read the US Constitution? Isn’t it easier to just switch on the television, play a video game or go to the movies?

But we are in a battle my friends and it’s time to decide if you are going to be a patriot, a slave or a casualty. Our battle right now is not with the weapons of conventional warfare but with something more intriguing and difficult. We are in a battle of information and on the one hand we have life giving, liberty ensuring truth and on the other is a sea of poisonous but convenient lies.

I have met many patriots who swear that, “when the time comes” they will take up arms and fight against the tyrants who would overthrow our Constitutional Republic, but I must respectfully disagree with them. It has been my long experience that those who will do nothing when it costs them very little will certainly do nothing when it might cost them their very lives, their fortune or their sacred honor.

We must not only educate ourselves, we must educate others and on this note, I would like to caveat with but one statement. We cannot educate our fellow citizens in one fell swoop; they did not become un-educated overnight and they will not rectify the situation any quicker. At times, educating others can be grueling and demanding work but if we are to save our Republic, a gift from God, we must show ourselves willing and worthy of the task.

There are those of our fellow citizens who will gladly and quite readily believe a lie just as eagerly as they will put on the chains of slavery. This current war in Iraq is prima facia evidence of this and it should galvanize us all to action. We must redouble our efforts to educate ourselves and our fellow citizens, to teach them the truth for without it, we are destined to be nothing but chattel slaves.

Our other enemy is sloth, laziness if you prefer, and it has become a national epidemic. So lazy are we as a nation that we will hardly bother to involve ourselves in anything outside our own worlds. Small wonder then that we fall prey to the evil machinations of political despots and that, seeing them succeed, other despots sprout up alongside them to thoroughly tyrannize us at nearly every level of our lives.

The best remedy for sloth is of course work but our labor must be one borne of desire. I know that if you are reading this column, you have a desire to see our nation free again. Therefore, I issue you a friendly challenge today.

Send a personal and cordial Email to at least one person, do not mass mail or it will defeat the purpose (most people don’t read forwarded messages, especially about things they find “controversial” or don’t agree with). Explain briefly to this person your intentions and then put a link to this website (or another one if you think there is a better). Invite them to come in, look around and then follow up and ask them what they thought.

Battles are won by the individual acts of the average soldiers acting in accordance with their beliefs. If you believe in this struggle for our Republic, I ask you today, in this battle, to stand with me and fire just one volley, an Email volley. Load carefully, aim with deliberation and fire.

Thank you for your support, this old soldier is proud of you!
