The Inevitable Decline
by Chilo Metropolis
Over the years I have watched benevolent small town family businesses shut themselves down one after another, and this pattern is horrifying. Small town America, especially the area I am currently residing in, is most definately not ready to face the malignant power surge of corporate America.
There is no anodyne for a family business facing a sales decrease of such high numbers that the product inventory becomes irrelevant, eventually resulting in the inevitable decline of business sales. The decline has already begun, whether one looks at these flashy new land marks as voracious economy hogs or country club heroes. The way I choose to look at it, is that any poverty stricken chum with no means of transportation, will eventually be forced to conform to a purchase routine at a larger grocier, hardware store, liquor distributor, etc. thus, keeping the "rich richer, and the poor- poorer".
I have already witnessed two local businesses shutting themselves down. How could anyone see this as "a good thing"? There is no positive medium in an untouched region turning into an enormous fucking billboard, and I refuse to open myself to any alternatives on this matter. It is what it is. It's robbery, monopoly, criminal, crooked, and surely is not requisite beyond the furthest stretch of the imagination.
These once germane small town business owners, may very well transform into second class citicizens who have lost touch with their sense of comportment and dignity. Immeasurable amounts of foreshadowing scenarios have already been presented to this little community, and I am getting the fuck out, as soon as possible, because quite frankly- I would much rather jump into an already tainted metropolis, rather than watch this chivalrous, once untouched community rot into a steaming landfill of taxi cabs and hungry toddlers.
