A MP has backed calls for the DNA screening of all men in Bristol as part of the hunt for the murderer of Jo Yeates.

Miss Yeates' body was found at the roadside on Christmas Day eight days after she was reported missing.

Seriously? Why not test women aswell? The police have said she was not sexually assualted, so why does this MP believe it was a man and not a woman? Even if you factor in that it would cost £35 a test, with a population of males over 15 years of age of around 185,000 - that gets you a kick in the arse of £6.5 million.

Keep in mind that a murder investigation in the UK normally costs £300,000 - £600,000.

Statistically women are much less likely to be killed by a stranger than a man (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1635092). Maybe this MP should consider this before making sweeping statements without considering the implications.

The above costs do not include the cost to the people having the DNA tests who have to take time out of their busy lives to have this done.

When women have an idea, maybe they should keep it to themselves - especially when they are an elected member of parliment.
