I just sold 1,400 ounces last week for $38/ounce. I bought at $13 about two years ago. Not a bad return.
Silver has vastly outperformed gold over the last 3 years. At the beginning of the silver rise, gold was around 71x more valuable than silver. That gap closed to the low 30's a couple of months ago. It's currently around 43x. Silver has been a much better investment, and will continue to be the best investment. Keep reading.
I've kept 250 ounces of "junk silver" - pre-1965 US dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars. They are 90% silver and will likely be the only useful form of precious metal if the SHTF. Why?
1. Once bartering picks up, you aren't going to buy a loaf of bread with a gold coin. You'll use a 90% US coin. Even a 1oz silver coin is too big. Smaller denominations are better.
2. US coins are easily recognizable and will be hard to forge for a while.
3. Despite what people say, there ARE a large number of pre-1965 coins being stockpiled by people all over the country. If that wasn't the case, they would be really easy to find in your pocket change. They will very likely be the currency of choice within communities when society starts to rebuild.
In other words, the only silver you should acquire is pre-1965 US 90% silver coins, even though they won't be immediately useful in a SHTF-scenario. And that is ONLY after you have the three B's taken care of (beans, bandaids, and bullets).
Slang A few resources: Before you scroll down and check out our free dictionary then you will want to know about a few great resources to stay: First, you want to see this great youth ministry tool, a book entitled Do What is a for 'Sheezy. This book is a great resource for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of youth culture and for those looking to begin the discussion with the children.
Thanks

Per Oz
Gold: 1,544.98 USD
Silver: 36.39 USD
Platinum: 1,728.40 USD
Palladium: 769.00 USD
At the moment gold or platinum are the best bet if you are wanting to invest in precious metals.
