List of catalogs & info sources for hard to find s
This filed created 5:56 pm August 2, 1992, so if you reading this
much later than now, check to see that all the adressess are still
correct.
A short resource guide for books and gadets. If you already know
all this, sorry you had to waste a download to get it.
The list, in no particluar order:
1. Loompanics Unlimited
P.O. Box 1197
Port Townsend, WA 98368
Price:$5.00
These people have the widest selection of books of all the
publishers listed here, but other catalogs have a wider selection
of books on indival topics. The Loompanics subjects' include:
A. Criminal Activites (a few mostly outdated book on hacking
are included)
B. Fake I.D. a big section here.
C. Drugs. From testing to making and selling.
D. Privacy & hiding things.
E. Guns & weapons.
F. Explosives.
G. Locks & Locksmithing. (Including a book that shows how to
make a 'pick' for card-key locks.)
H. 'Reality Creation' - Includes the Principa Discordia.
I. Lots of other stuff, including fiction pieces to read as you
browse through the catalog.
It's the must expensive catalog here, but it's worth it.
2. Consumertronics
2011 Crescent Dr., P.O. Drawer 537
Alamogordo, NM 88310-0537
Price:$4.00
A thin catalog, but it is specialized towards the electronics
fetishist. They sell books and ready-made devices for:
A. Defeating radar guns. (NOT just detectors.)
B. Van Eck Phreaking.
C. ATM Hacking (Including the device from the Terminator 2
movie, off-the shelf.)
D. How to hack voice mail.
E. Cellular phone phreaking.
F. Disks full of ready-to-implant Viruses and Trojan Horses.
These people also will resarch any topic for you (for a fee, of
course.)
3. Palidin Press
P.O. Box 1307
Boulder, CO 80306
Price: Free, I think. (But they sell their mailing list)
A very similar selsction to Loompanics, but they only have books
on physical survival. (So if you want to turn you car into
something from the Road Warrior movies, talk to these people.)
4. Information Unlimited
P.O. Box 716
Amherst, NH 03031
Price:$2.00
These people sell mostly plans, kits and assembled devices ranging
from lasers and laser microphones, starlight scopes, ultrasonic
pain field generators, to bugs and telephone taps. A few books
too, but for the most part the books are overpriced.
5. Mentor-Z
Drawer 1549
Ashbury Park, NJ 07712
Price:Free.
Almost entirely technophile stuff: Electronic surveillance,
schematics, locksmithing, 'covert' sciences, hacking, etc.
Haven't written to these people yet but it comes highly
recomended.
These are just a measly few of the sources. Here are some good
sources for sources:
A. HIGH WEIRDNESS BY MAIL
Actually one of the books of 'Bob', it lists most of the people
listed here, and much more. Be careful though, it was published
in 1988, so many of the addresses aren't current.
B. BOOK YOUR OWN FUCKIN' LIFE
Lots of anarchy and punk stuff... nothing techincal, but fun.
Look for both of thes in your comic shop or counterculture books
store.
C. FACTSHEET FIVE
6 Arizona Ave.
Rensselaer, NY 12144-4502
These people list just about every 'zine known to man. $3.00 for
sample issue.
That's all that come to mind now but this should put you on the
right track... Happy hunting.
