So I would like to start reading more, its been a while since I sat down and read a good book. Any suggestions?

Well, if you have read 1984 and liked it, a common recommendation would be, "Brave New World" by Huxley.
More plausible in my opinion.

The Artemis Fowl books were pretty good.

Hahaha man, I was just in a conversation about how rad the first three were. I think after Opal Deception I stopped reading, but I remember being real into those.
And read Orson Scott Card even if you don't like SF/F because his work truly stands alone. I'm recommending them mostly because I liked them, and I liked the book and author you listed in the OP, so, you know, connection there somewhere.
